Sequoia Limited Wheels on 4runner Sport

What is TPMS ? I take it pressure monitors ??

Does the wheels in question not have them ? or can you just swap from the stock sport rims ( 17") ??

As far as offset goes , do they stick out further than stock sport rims ??? I never heard that before.

Do the rims from the Tundra and sequoia differ in offset and size. ???? They look the same in appearance .

Guess I'm not really understanding the problem or the thread about TMPS not working on these rims.

Yep, TPMS are Tire Pressure Monitors that are part of your valvestem (and are super expensive!). With other manufacturers I know they've modified their rims to support TPMS by adding weight to the opposite side of the wheel to balance the wheel. The TPMS unit is much heavier than a typical valvestem. This is why I'm being cautious about finding the right set for my gx. I'm not *sure* that the Sequoia rims are different w/TPMS, but I've seen part numbers that suggest the T4r Limited rims are.

Yes, the Sequoia rims have a lower (numerical) offset than the 4r rims (15mm vs 25mm), which means they'll "stick out" 10mm when compared to the OE rims. I think this looks good, and explains why they fill the wheel wells of a 4runner so well.

TPMS Tire Pressure Monitoring System, as far as the offset between the tundra and sequioa they are the same wheels, it seems wider than the SR5 wheels on my 06 but i really don't know, i'm thinking that it's the design of the wheel itself that makes it looks wider, the pressure monitors should work fine with the tundra or sequioa, you could just take it out of the sports wheels and slap it on the sequioa wheels....

nuff said that explains my 4runner having a more agressive and wider look with my tundra wheels

Yup, I watched the parts guy navigate the menus. There was definitely a non-TPMS part # (and a separate one for TPMS) -- at least for the 18" Limited wheels.

Interesting. 18" Limited wheels (for the 4Runner) was introduced in 2006 MY. Not sure why there would be a non-TPMS version. I think 2004 4Runners all had TPMS.

Great pics. You know, those Gunmetal rims look almost chrome. I thought they would look amazing, but actually think I might like the plain silver ones better. I love them after you powdercoated them.

Do people know whether the Sequoia ever came w/plain silver, or am I now looking for Tundra rims?

I think they'll look sweet on my gx

The plain silver ones came on both the tundra and the sequoia. The gunmetal ones came on the sequoia but Im not sure about the tundra.

The pics are not the best quality with the gunmetal ones, but I agree that they looked too chrome. Too bling for my liking. Tho my plan was always to PC black, i had them on there like that for like a month just to see what it looked like.

Part of the issue with the part numbers is that some Toyota wheels have differently angled TPMS sensors than others. Some go in at say 10 degrees and some at 20 degrees. I think they screwed up mine when they swapped them into my Tundra wheels so I am going to stop giving advice past this point:bash:
