service life of 2WD front hub and wheel bearings?

I just finished putting new OEM brake pads, shim kit, hardware kit, and rotors on the front wheels of my 2WD 2004 SR5 at 128,000 miles.

While I had the rotors off, I started to wonder if I should have done the front wheel bearings at the same time? I spun the hubs by hand and they weren't glitchy but they didn't spin like skateboard wheels either. Are these wheel bearings repackable like they are on old cars or do you replace the whole assembly?

I looked on Camelback's parts fiche and there were parts numbers for several different seals and spacers on the front axles. The bearings were clearly marked #4357060011 (and expensive!) but I wasn't sure what seals and other parts were necessary for a bearing change.

So what's the 411 on 2WD front bearing life and RnR?

Changed mine a while back, noisy. A fellow on this forum, maybe several, build and sell the assembly needed. 2WD and 4WD are different. Naturally the 2WD bearing assembly takes more parts and costs more.

2wd and 4x4 are different. when you rotate the hubs alone, you should not hear any sound at all. if you could hear a metallic sound vibrating thru, grease might have dried out due to seal failure and should be replaced but if you are tight on budget, it is okay to continue using it. i only sell 4x4 wheel hub bearing assembly so i cant compare.
