Setting up Bluetooth Audio through the stereo- non-nav

Hi guys,

I just picked up a 2010 SR5 this week with the basic radio. According to the details on the paperwork and checked through toyota.com with the vin, it should be bluetooth enabled. I went through the phone setup ( Iphone SE ) and successfully set it up. I can make calls and if I play through Spotify, it streams. The thing is, it streams through the front speakers and volume and everything is controlled through the phone.

According to the manual, I can setup bluetooth through the radio itself. THe first step ( non-nav radio ) is to Press and hold Aux until "BT AUDIO" is displayed. It never displays. Am I doing something wrong ?

I can always use the aux cord for better sound but if there's a way to do it through bluetooth, obviously, that's more convenient. I did try searching the forum as well as youtube, but couldn't find anything to set up BT directly with the car stereo.

Thanks much

1. Look on Ebay for genuine owners manuals. They should have the instructions for how to set up Bluetooth: 2010 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 4 RUNNER NAVIGATION SYSTEM OWNERS MANUAL SR5 LIMITED SPORT | eBay

2. The Bluetooth audio has a separate volume control setting. Yours may be set too low to hear. If you have steering wheel volume buttons, try adjusting those when you are playing something with Bluetooth audio.

I have the original factory manual. The command to push the aux till you see "BT AUDIO" on the radio is right from there. But it doesn't seem to work for me.

As for the volume, I don't have the steering wheel controls, and the radio's volume control doesn't do anything. But it's not so much the volume but rather with the phone bluetooth setup, only the front speakers will work ( also right from the factory manual ). What I was hoping was that if I could get the radio bluetooth setup to work, the streaming would be through the radio and all the speakers.

Thanks
