I dont know how much I'll really contribute to this awesome site but I like the idea of documenting my build and getting feed back from the community of like minded folks. I will be keeping my list in this post updated as progress is made as well as posing questions I have and post related to the build.

Warning: this will probably be slow and long term cause funds for the truck are random.

Now on to the truck, its a 95 T4R I got last year, my second 2 gen, first one needed more money than i could put into it at the time and I sadly had to give it up. After that I had a breif stent with a Jeep (don't judge I'm back) I relized that I really needed another 4runner. Paint is green but in really bad shape (one of the many things on my list).

Plans for future (in no particular order):
OME torsion bars
Shocks all around
Stock spare (steel) wheels all the way around.
Roof rack
Interior LED lighting
Paint ( considering monstaliner using the stock color)
Addicted offroad front bumper and sliders
Light bar on above mentioned bumper.
And any other random project I come up with along the way.



List of work done (plan to keep it as an evolving list).

Engine rebuild at 244xxx miles
OME 901 springs
Kicker audio front and rear speakers
Pioneer head unit (PO install)
Hankook MT 32x11.50
Cobra 19 in ash tray slot w/ firestick antenna.

Looking at putting a PA on when I fo my CB install soon. I Have some ideas as to where to put it but I was wondering if anyone here had some pics of where they mounted theirs.

Keep us informed. You have the unloved Gen. The Glory-Grabbing 5th Gens make me sick. The 4th Gens are no better. Sure, I was hoping for a decent 3rd Gen; but no luck there. I am also stuck with a bone stock 2nd Gen and I love it.

Its true, 2 gen gets no love. But I think thats its cause everyone else (except 1st gen) is envious that we have tail gates keeping our truck like roots.

Update on my rig. So I've noticed an oil leak from my newly rebuilt engine (3,500 miles on it). So I've got it in the shop that did the rebuild and they are looking over everything.

On a better note I now have every thing to put my CB in, already had a Cobra 19 and Firestik. The parts I got in where the PA, coax, antenna mount, and spring base.

Got the truck back from the rebuilder, had a fuel leak at one of the injector seals and oil leak (the reason I brought it back to them) at the valve covers. Luckily they covered it under the warranty from the rebuild.

Next up the CB and PA install.

my gen 2 is currently lying dormant. If I could give you a suggestion on tires, a 4" lift with 33s is a great combo.

Since you are going with OME torsion bars, you might want to consider their shocks as well, as they make high quality stuff all around, and unlike many others they match theirs to the weight of the application. Wouldn't go very big on the tires since your funds are limited and the relatively wimpy engines in the 2nd Gen necessitate gearing swaps for 33s and up. Truck looks good--best of luck on the build!

Thats the plan going OME all around but funds and need will play into it. As for tire size if I go 33 it will be a 10.50 so I dont have to go any more on lift than what the OME 901s gave me. But I'm feelling more like 32x11.50 or something similar. I saw a set of early 90s Land Cruiser 16in wheels that I thought would look great on the truck so that would open up the 32" options a little more. Just have to keep an eye out on good deals.

On my first 2nd Gen I used the full OME lift combined with P265 metric tires that were right around 32" diameter, and they looked and worked well together.:thumb3:

Got to spend some time on the truck yesterday and replaced the plug wires with some NGK ones. Boring but needed, car definitely tell the difference.

Been awhile since I could do anything but I've been training for a new career and that takes priority. Got some new tires on today 32x11.50 Hankook MT looks just right and I'll report back on how they drive soon, have a cross country trip to break them in. Also hot my Cobra 19 in finally had all the parts just didn't have the time.
