[MENTION=137059]Clark27[/MENTION] got it exactly right, The pressure mount just keep the front from shaking and wobbling etc. It is more than enough and I can stand on the front cross member of the rack with no issues. The felt pads protect the roof from heavy damage (minor scratches can occur under ROUGH ROUGH conditions). Thanks for replying with info for others guys. Negative on the sale, probably wont have a "sale" for some time. $800 for a full rack is already a very fair price and it would be hard for us to bring it down much more.

Thanks for posting the pressure mount photos. Makes sense. Only thing I would worry about is if you are running a lot of weight. Had a spare tire approx 85 lbs with wheel on daughters 3rd gen 4 runner in the Yakima Loadwarrior basket. Just running that thing down by Ouray/Silverton on 4WD roads (some pretty rough) no matter how tight I cranked down the basket and then the towers to the OEM rack everything would loosen up and move. Would like to see how that pressure mount holds up with significant weight. You might think about the possibility of using a Rivet nut like the Prinsu Racks as an *optional* method of attachment.

I have enough parts of an extra stock rack to add rails up to the front of the roof. If you do that, it'll look stock and have a 'real' front attachment point.

I looked at the rivnut option but the roof is thin and it could pull through. You'd need reinforcement from below which would require taking off head liner. I'll use a piece of plastic heat bent to the right curve and stuck on with 3m double side vhb tape.

The rivnuts would be a real PITA on a 3rd gen, as pointed out, the roof is really thin and it would be more pain then its worth. I run a 130lbs tent on my rack pretty much 24/7 and have yet to retighten any bolts or nuts since install and have done over 5000 miles offroad since install. I have had zero issues with the front feet. They don't really bare any loud, more so keep the front of the rack from rattling and bouncing. I can put all my weight on one foot and no issues as well. The most people would realistically run up front on the rack is fuel (Rotopax or jerrycan) or like Maxtrax. Otherwise, the main weight sits on the rear feet which are very stout.

Wind Noise

A lot of people ask about the wind noise of this rack. I run mine with a light-bar and have almost no wind noise with the tent off. A little with the tent on.

All the customers who have received the rack have reported back very little to no noticeable wind noise which is awesome. A few have also reported that there is no noticeable hit to MPG after install which is another plus. All this testing and feedback from customers is huge and will help as grow as a business.

See the post below from a couple weeks ago from Alex, I've seen this rack in person on multiple vehicles and it is worth the asking price of $800. Alex is a fulltime college student who took a chance to bring a niche product to market for a 15+ year old vehicle! If you can afford it, order it now. If not, save a little longer. You won't be disappointed.

No disrespect to anyone and I dont mean to post/speak for [MENTION=129084]Flemster[/MENTION] but sometimes the price "bargaining" from people within a small community gets a little excessive. :hatsoff:

I have never understood why people with good products do group buys. That just devalues the product and causes people to wait to buy them only during group buys for the savings. People tend to wait to save the most they can and then ***** because they have long wait times during a group buy. :ybrick:

I am still on the fence for this rack; but since I do not need one right now I will probably wait until after I get a few more pressing issues taken care of. Then i will reevaluate the rack and my needs. I do like the design and reviews though.

I concur, no need for group buys for small companies, or someone building a product on their own. Many people don't understand the time and money it takes for the R&D portion or these products (many times, doing after hours taking time away from friends and family).

My opinion, it's almost disrespectful to ask for group buys from people like this. If they choose to offer, that's up to them.

As for this rack.... I want it. And that light bar! (Yes, I talked about light bars on top of trucks up in Alaska already...) but I'll have to wait. I have front suspension work to do and finish refinancing my house to pay off my last student loan. Maybe it'll be a Christmas Present for myself. We'll see.

But kudos to him for doing it and doing it well.
People do group buys not only to bring in more traffic to there web site but if you normally make for example $500 for selling 5 racks in a month, why not make $8-900 on 10 racks in a month because of the group buy and help out the small community that you do make the racks for.
$800 is a very fair price for this awesome looking rack
And I am going to get it regardless of the price.
But $10 bucks off is still $10 bucks off just makes me feel a little better on spending any kind of money on anything I buy.
When customers come to me and ask if I can give them a discount on there lift kit or install if they bring me a friend to any kind of work, I do it.
Because not only am I helping someone out and then he will go and spread the word but he is also bringing me more business and then they will spread he word. And it usually ends up they are repeat customers.
That’s just me though everyone is different.
And it was just a question, like I said I love the look of this rack and am going to buy it regardless.

I apologize if I missed it, but are there any provisions on this rack for the mounting of an antenna? I recently got back into ham radios and I very much want to get my dual band mobile unit installed, and an antenna up on the roof. If not, I'm sure something could be fabricated... Thanks.

Nothing on the rack itself, but you can mount damn near anything you want to this rack.

I used a Diamond K9000 motorized antenna mount for my CB antenna and intended to add a second for a 2M antenna.
