Shift Knob

Well, I did a forum search and couldn't find anything on this. I am really sick of the huge bulky knob...thing... that us automatic 3rd gen owners have. They're ugly and I want to change it.

I saw a guy do it with his 2nd Gen and I was in shock at how good it looked... I want to do that.

Has anyone done this? Where can I get another shifter knob?

I would love to switch to a Lexus knob, something like this...

I would look into the 99+ 3rd gen shifters. They may be an easier swap but anything other than factory would probably be a pita with the o/d switch. Also I think your shifter has the lock depress on the side where as the newer third gens have it on the top. Just some things to consider. . .

That's kinda what I already have.... lol I have a 99...

No one else thinks it's too bulky? There's got to be other swappable alternatives...

Personally I found the 4x4 one ugly...

I guess there is just no aftermarket alternative at all?

I guess it's just me who cares then... lol

If you have access to a lathe you could easily turn a wooden one to thread onto the shift shaft. There isn't a button for ECT or anything on the stock knob itself right? Here's an example of a knob I turned for my 5spd....except I like the stock one better so I use that instead haha

Refer back to the original post date and you'll see why I posted this.

Time for 5 speed swap? Again?

oh yea, someone bumped a really old post. I run the same TRD knob and it's fine. The URD short shifter is nice too, it's just a little crunchy getting it into 1st gear.

Lol. I read the first post and was scratching my head. I was trying to picture your manual lever with the head of the auto. And also thinking why would he do that? Then I saw the date...

BTW, that sure seems like a lot of work to do just to change the knob...

I've been thinking... it's time for a manual to auto swap. Ugh It's too hard switching gears. While I'm at it, I'll try out some self-castration. I mean, what's it all for, anyway?
