I was doing some cosmetic updates to my 98 4runner 2wd automatic. This involved replacing the little plastic gear position indicator on the shift panel. I made the mistake and thought I needed to remove the shift "knob" (the thing with the lock button and OD button). I removed the 2 screws and started putzing around with it and realized I did not need to do such. When I replaced the knob and put the 2 screws back in place, the thing is messed up. I can not press in the shift lock button to shift out of park. What did I do? Something broken?

Checked all fuses and bulbs. Not the problem. I don't understand. It worked fine before I took it apart. See photos and please help. Thanks very much.
