Shifter Boot Replacement

Has anyone replaced this boot at the base of the shifter?

The boot clearly won't fit over the shifter, so I'm guessing I need to remove the 4 bolts at the base of the shifter. Anyone done this? Anything tricky I need to be aware of? never done anything with a transmission and can't afford to screw this up. It's my daily driver.

thx!

What are you doing? Did you replace the factory boot with another? These are pretty simple. Cant really see your pic, its so small. Here's one I have kicking in the garage, the boot slips over the bevel lip.

Did you drag yours down over the shifter?

...and thanks for responding. Was starting to think everyone took off for the summer ;-)

I did this same job a while back yes you just drag it down. I put just a bit of grease on the inside of the rubber boot and that helps it slide down.

thanks for the guidance.

was super easy to drag it down the shifter w/ a little grease on it. just for shits/giggles, I took the shifter out just to see how it connected. simple. push the top "shield" down and twist to the left, it pops right out.
