Shifter position light (ON/OFF) mostly off

Hi guys,

I did a quick search on the forum and didn't find it. The light to show which gear is engaged besides the shifter on My 2006 V8 is mostly dead.

I must have a bad contact because sometimes it turns back ON.

How deep do I have to dig to be able to replace it?
Feel free to point to a DYI thread it there is one for this little thing.

Thanks.

It's not hard to replace the bulb. If you open the lid on the center console, the trim piece that contains the DAC button and seat heater switches (if you have them) will pull up. There are a few plastic clips that keep the trim piece in place but that's it. Once you pull that trim piece and unhook the wiring from the switches, the bulb for the shifter is under the back corner where the 2-L indicator is. The bulb socket takes a quarter twist and it will come free. The bulb is a number 37 or 74.

Sounds easy.
Now I just wonder if it's corrosion on the Bulb contacts or if it could be a bad/pinched wire. I'm crossing my fingers for the bulb.

Will report back once fixed.

Many thanks.
