Okay last resort. This forum has been priceless for me and I rarely ever have to post but I'm not finding a direct solution to this. I have a 2000 model with 175,000 miles on it. It has been very very sluggish shifting out of first. It's either sluggish or possibly skipping 2nd gear altogether and going to 3rd. It started throwing a code for the B Solenoid. I had all three replaced at a transmission shop. It didn't solve the problem at all. Of course now they want to rebuild it. If I just start out slowly and wait for it to shift, it runs perfect after that. I have ran it through each gear by shifting it manually and they all work fine. It doesn't seem like a lot of miles to need a transmission. My wife's 1999 has over 300,000 on it and we've hardly had to do anything to it at all. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Long story short, I had a similar problem with my 97. It wouldn't shift out of 1st gear until the truck warmed up to about 145 degrees. Manually shifting did not help, it would stay stuck in 1st.
I literally tried everything. New solenoids, transmission flush additive, new filter, new fluid, new ECU etc. In the end, I had to replace the tranny.
There is a caveat though. My truck got a bad pink milk shake about 12k miles before it started acting up. One of the things that happened was the filter became clogged with this brownish clay material. I believe it over time burned up the pump which is why it was failing.
If you disconnect the shift solenoid connector on the outside of the tranny, and try driving it by manually shifting and it still won't shift right, than the tranny itself is probably on its way out. There is a trouble shooting area in the FSM for doing this test.
