shifting problems

my transmission doesn't shift in to overdrive. this problem does not happen all the time and when i am driving the overdrive light flashes.
please some one help.

89 t4r 3.0 v6 automatic

I have the exact same problem. Haven't been able to figure it out yet. Anyone else have this problem, or better yet, the solution?
