Unfortunately came home recently to this...aaaargh!!! Bumper end trashed...any leads on a salvaged part?
Bumper end is cracked, reflector broken y and tailgate has slight bump...estimate $1k [emoji24]

I did try that site but no bumper ends came up.
Will get a $85 new part and paint it for $35...most cost effective option.
Will worry about the tailgate later
Giving Shiny some love during the last couple of days:
- New spark plugs
- Mobil 1 Synthetic oil change (Mi: 164315 miles)
- EZ drain valve to facilitate future oil changes
- New hub cap
- New rear wiper
Love working in this thing and all the space there is around!

Just went through the same bumper damage & reflector (plus tail light) scenario ... bought the bumper piece primed smooth for $78 & after mkt reflector for $30 on ebay. Maaco near me painted it. A little more to the story in case questions are coming, so we also had to replace the taillight (pre-owned oem ebay $51) and was slight damage to the lip of the hatch that needed to be bent out and touch-up painted... so for the sake of convenience Maaco did it all, I supplied parts. Total cost $470. Parts $200, Paint and Assembly at Maaco $270

Here’s an update:
Bought the part capa certified for $78 and color matched paint and clear coat...after many coats:
Took the rear bumper apart (easier to take it all out for disassembly). Got the new reflector for $30 (off of eBay too)
New painted part bolted on:
And everything buttoned back up:
All in for about $158 (was quoted $750 alone for this bumper end painted and installed)
However still need to fix a little bend on liftgate. Also Replaced some hardware while I was in there for around $10 from local dealer [emoji106]
Now I can start thinking of a 2in lift and tires!

Maintenance update:
Changed the alternator at 166500 miles (replaced with Advanced AUto Parts Gold Series) and the accessory belt.
Many threads on doing this but a couple of learnings:
- don’t need to remove or loosen the power steering pump, just remove its pulley.
- alternator goes out and goes back in through bottom after removing the lower shield.
My trick to easily remove the pulley if interested:
Pulley has holes in it so you can put use a big socket through it and let it rest on a big bolt on the pump. Then remove pulley’s nut [emoji106]

Do you know if the timing belt and water pump has ever been replaced? If not I would put that on top of the list of things to do.

According to previous owner, it was done a few thousand miles before I bought it. I'm not sure i trust that however.
I'll look into DIYs out there to get it done ASAP.

Have you looked all around under the hood, almost all of the timming belts/kits have a sticker that is supposed to be placed under the hood to indicate that it has been changed, I actually found mine after looking everywhere in the engine compartment on the underside of the hood, I thought it had never been changed and one day after owning for a few months I was checking fluid levels and just happened to look up and there it was on the hood.

After trying to rescue my headlights using a parts store kit (which worked for like 3 months) I de used to just replace the headlights altogether.

Black insert headlights from Amazon. They are not perfect right out of the box but can be worked out ok.
Totally transformed the look imo [emoji106]

Current mileage: 190k miles so I decided to do the timing belt water pump...and it happened just in the nick of time!
As soon as the water pump came out, the impeler broke apart in two pieces. The belt was showing teeth on the outside too.
Definitely seems like previous owner hadn’t replaced the TB at 100k miles so I absolutely got lucky! [emoji106]
On to the next job! More miles to come hopefully!
