Shock question

I'm replacing my front with 5100 just for the lift. I do not offroad at all so bilstein may be overkill for the rear. Whats the best on road shock for ride quality?

Bistein makes excellent shocks all around, off-roading or not I would give your 4runner what it deservse and throw on a set of matching Bilsteins in the back too :)

If you want to save a little bit, I've read that the standard rear Bilstein shocks (yellow/blue ones, sorry forgot the model name) have the same exact valving as the 5100s, just a wee bit less travel.

The HD's?

I dunno what the difference is in the rears since the 5100's aren't adjustable in the rear

I am not sure if this is the same on the 4th gen shocks, but if you compare the HD vs the 5100s for the 5th gen, the 5100s have a bit longer stroke; thus a bit more down travel. Otherwise, they are supposedly identical in valving.

I also didn't see the point in rear Bilsteins so I bagged up some Monroe Reflex shocks from the local auto parts store. They ride just as good as stock XREAS but they are much cheaper to replace!

No I wouldn't call them bouncy at all. The soft feeling I get sometimes front and rear is from the soft coils Toyota used on these trucks. My 5100s don't feel firm like I expected up front, and the rear feels just like stock. I'm very happy with the shocks...I just need a slightly stiffer coil.

Can anyone tell me if the 48530-ad050 bilstein will work on my 4runner. They come off 07 tacoma and are the yellow/blue ones.
