Hi all,
I have exhausted myself looking at threads and searching for different shock reviews by all of you lovely people on the forum. While I'm fairly certain everyone loves the Bilsteins and OME (I LOVE OME...I've had them on all of my trucks/Jeeps in the past), cost is a factor for me. I have every "intention" of selling this beautiful V8 (with 170K on it) in a couple years to get a new 4runner so I'm just interested in comfort and function. I have a 2.5" front spacer lift and RAS that I will be "tricking" into settling at the highest setting but I have no intention lifting the Runner any further (well maybe...but we'll cross that bridge later...much later...son #2 is on his way so $$$ is tight). I have a couple questions to you experts on here...I'm interested to hear your opinions.
Does anyone have experience with the Moog Complete Strut Assembly (ST8608L/R) and/or the Monroe Quick-Struts (171371L/R) and could comment on the ride/handling/etc.? From what I have read, both will jack up the front a tad, so do you recommend taking off the spacers, knowing that I will be tricking the back end into its highest setting? I like the fact they come with new springs (and for $92 each, you can't go wrong). Is one more comfortable than the other...or any benefits one has over the other?
As for the rears, I've pretty much settled on the Monroe 37270 shocks. Can't beat the price ($38 each from RockAuto) and from what I've read, durability is the only issue (which I don't really care about since I'll probably be upgrading in a couple years). Unless anyone feels extremely strongly that I shouldn't get these, I've kind of made up my mind on that. But I'm all ears if you don't think I should.
Any advice is appreciated. Many thanks!
