While I agree that Toyota does make a very reliable vehicle...But did you read the article. The point of the article was that Ford and Chryco were at the bottom of the list because of recalls. Toyota just announced it's SECOND multi-million vehicle recall in 60 days. Unfortunately more vehicles then Ford and Chryco combined.

after working at a Toyota dealer for many years, people blow these campaign's way out of proportion.

The fact of the matter is Toyota has more campaign turn around's because of the amount of vehicles sold, NOT because of more problems within those vehicles than the competitor.

I didn't say that it was. The point I made was that the article was making the argument that Toyota was more reliable based on how many cars have been recalled by Ford and Chryco. Based on THEIR criteria...then Toyota should be at the bottom.

I in no way agree that Ford or Chryco make a vehicle that is as reliable as Toyota or even better. Just that the article was using recalls as their main argument stance.
 
Yeah but how many vehicles in the history of Ford, GM and Chryco have recalled compared to Toyota over the years?
 
You can't compare PAST problems with current. If that were the case...look at the dismal record Toyota had back in the 70s and 80s and RUST. They were pitiful.

Again...NOT saying Toyota is still not making one of the most reliable vehicles in the world...If I didn't think that then I wouldn't be here. I'm just complaining about the articles argument and current recalls.
 
We gotta remember recall doesn't mean not reliable. For example there was the gas pedal recall, and lots of cars were impacted but all of those cars were much more reliable than the average car.
 
Also a recall could be because the company realized they made a design error AFTER the vehicle was released and they wish to correct that issue. For example, Toyota in their quest to stay on top of fuel mileage and meet ever stricter guidelines tried reducing the axleshaft diameters and construction of their half shafts on the Prius, thus leading to a large quantity of them breaking under heavy use. Toyota realized this was an issue and wants their vehicles back so they can fix the issue for the owner.

Recalls are not always indicitive of a reliability issue as much as say a software update doesn't exactly mean the program is unreliable. You have to really cut a fine line between the two in my opinion.
 
DON'T EVEN COMPARE CHRYSLER TO TOYOTA. At least Toyota takes safety issues seriously.
Owned a Jeep jk once, the thing's transmission got hot and will burn! Transmission oil pops out and there is cat right behind! Genius! (already many cases around the world). Chrysler doesn't even care and only flash the ECU to notice the driver the transmission is hot and stop driving. A jeep JK trail rated with TOW PACKAGE but without a transmission cooler!! NO more Chrysler crap!

Yeah, Chrysler is pretty much the lowest on my list of "reliable, good, or otherwise even close to possibly considerable" companies for vehicles. Maybe now that they are owned by Fiat they will greatly improve, but I'll wait at least 10 years before making a final decision.
