shocks brake dive fix

is there a reason the rear right has a bolt that is not touching, but the left side bolt is touching. Should I screw teh bolt until it touches the inside of the hub?

If the e-brake is engaged, the bolt should NOT touch. If the e-brake is NOT engaged, the bolt MUST touch. Before you adjust whichever one is not doing what it should, verify the bellcranks are pivoting freely and pull the drum and verify that the mechanism inside is working correctly. If the bolt stays in the same position between e-brake engaged and not engaged, odds are the bellcrank involved is seized. If you adjust the bolt for the wrong reason, you will absolutely make things worse and will guarantee that the e-brake, and possibly the normal drum brake will NEVER work. . If by chance your rear brakes didn't work at all, wouldn't it nosedive more?

I'm not good at adjusting the ebrake but the first part starts with the hub off.

when i pull the ebrake the bolts on both sides move away from the hub, but the 1 side, the bolt doesnt return all the way back to touching the hub when you release the brake. what does that mean?

Can't say from here. Three possibilities:
-Starwheel too tight
-bellcrank binding
-bellcrank bolt needs adjustment.

I'd recommend taking both drums apart, checking pads and looking for oil seepage and do a clean, lube and adjust on what's inside. Also pull and lube up the bellcranks. Then you can orget hose dangdrums fo a while.

hate to do it, but right now i just dont have the time to mess with it. I am gong to replace the shocks/struts myself, but if I were to take it somewhere to have the rear brakes checked/adjusted....what price range am I looking at? Can any mechanic shop handle it?

If its a cheap enough job, then I may just take it in....if not, I will have to find time to tackle it myself.

Any mechanic should be able to do drums. I do my own work and have no notion of prices and we don't know what is wrong, so cost is uncertain anyway. Probably not too bad, unless there is an axle seal leak or you need new shoes and drums.

so, i took it to my mechanic. he adjusted the drums for $40. front end dive is like 95% gone now! thanks all.

NOW...point me to an install "how to" on the shocks. I already bought them. I bought the pre-assembled setup, so no spring compression looks to be needed. but I got to admit...im a solid axle guy...the front end looks like greek to me.
