Shocks

Hey guy,

with almost 207k miles on mine, I'm thinking about getting new shocks for mine.

What would you recommended?

I do some mild off roading but most the time the runner is on asphalt.

I was thinking about either bilisten (oem?) or kyb's?

What were the oem shocks? were they bilistens?

What shocks does the trd package comes with?

Which rides better?

I check tirerack and they have kyb's and bilistens. However, is there other places that carries it too?

OEM shocks for the 3rd gens are Tokico shocks. They make an upgraded version called Trekmasters. I have been running them for a little more than a year...and have no complaints!

Like the signature says: Bilstiens. Last year I added all new suspension and went with Bilstiens for their reputation and cost. I have been very satisfied! My runner is my DD and sees over 200 miles a week during my trips to/from work. On the weekend I see how much a 10 year old rig wth 180k miles handles, i.e. camping, wheeling, etc...

TRD's come with Bilstein 4600HD. I run the Bilstein 5100's and they are great I do anywhere from 6-800 a week on and off-road. I have had good luck with KYB's in the past on other vehicles. My choice for stock height shocks would be Bilsteins, Tokico Trkmasters, OME(Old Man Emu), then KYBs

I just put these on my 4R and love them. They made a recent 1100 mile trip feel like I was riding in a Cadillac!

Um, there were no TRD 4Runners. But I agree with Bilstein 5100's. Great shocks. Wheelers offroad has them for a good price.

about how much does all new shocks and springs cost to get heavier duty shocks in the rear for towing? i am trying to persuade my mom into getting me the 700 dollar toytec lift that has new shocks and springs instead of stock height shocks and springs. any help??
