Shoots Build Thread.

so guys i got all my stuff in the mail today. i must say i am impressed.

1. the 3 gauge universal A pillar mount ($20) is a nice piece of abs plastic molded to fir 3 gauges. being a universal i took a change on it not fitting very well but knowing i could mold it to some degree to fit, and i must say it heats up very nicely then becomes mold able like play dough, hardens and holds its shape in a matter of 30 seconds. More molding and fitting tomorrow!

the pillar gauges look good! but i don't know what the heck i'd do without that pillar handle. i grab it every time i get in and out of the truck....

are you short? im 6,2 and i just have to slightly jump but getting in and out is absolutely no problem for me with my lift and body lift. #shortpersonproblems

Engine bay looks good. Do you just soak with a degreaser and then powerwash? I need to do this to mine before replacing the valve cover gaskets.

lol. i wouldn't say 5'11 is short but i suppose that extra 3" really matters!

it's just a nice place to grab when 4wheeling too....

but like i said "the pillar gauges look good!"

i'm digging your build buddy

I want to see a video or something when those gauges are all hooked up!

Ok yeah that's fine.

I'm really not happy hot the pillar turned out. I got one part too hot and it shrunk on me pretty bad. Plus the paint color is way off. So it's going to have to take more tries to get it correct.

But I'll get you a video here in a month or so. I want to try and get my wide band hooked up pretty soon

So we are driving home from being in the mountains this weekend and enjoying the fresh powder.

Well driving this truck on the highway is much more enjoyable. 80mph is held easy with limited RMP over 3k and only in positive boost on hills. But the transmission hardly down shifts.

One thing I notice that worries me is the fuel consumption.

Flying up longer hills my engine temp rises from 195F to 203 F. And as it starts rising I can tell the truck slows down and hardly has the power to sustain speeds and most of the time slows down a lot (85-70 mph).

So what's going on there? I assume I need more fuel. Also a water meth kit would help enormously to keep intake temps down.

Well anyways on i15 I lead a caravan of vehicles humming north at around 86-90 mpg for a good hour. I'm also wondering that running at those speeds I need the 7th injector with the boost and speed that it's running. But what's nice is as all other vehicles are running 80 mph or more for me going from 80-90 passing was extremely fast to accelerate. Before the supercharger I would have to keep my foot in it and keep the RPM above 3k to have the power to drive that fast on the highways. Now it's just comfortable! So much better on these 80 speed limit highways.

I just scored today!!

4 wheels and 8 tires.

4 no name brand
235-85-16 aka 31" skinnies
Currently on the wheels.

4 Micky Thompson Baja
285-75-16 in fair condition

I'm thinking of painting these wheels bronze and putting the MT on for a wheeling tire and that my 4Runner is no longer a DD.

Anyways I'm pretty pumped! All this for $100

ROAD TRIPPN!

The truck ran fine. Heavy winds and loaded trailer had a hard time keeping 70 at first.

Over the 12 hour drive for stopping for fuel and seeing a buddy I did some tuning. I would drive and my wife with the laptop watching the AFR and make adjustments. Then we would stop to get gas (had to turn off the truck) and upload the new data to the AIC. Managed to tune it to run in the lower 13s and WOT pulling hills at 4,000 on up it dropped into upper 12s.

Id still like to play with it to get it in the 12s above 3k rpm and like 4 lbs of boost.

It starts spraying at 3,000 rpm and 3psi
I basically bumped up the numbers .5 and shifted it all over to the left 2 spaces so it activates much sooner. I'm going to pull a couple spark plugs later to check them and see what the color looks like.

I'll tell you my gas millage SUCKED! I put 14 gal in the tank full up after I took this picture. I'll let you do the easy math.
