I'm a little bummed. The seller on the phone said it was a 10k lb. my buddy who picked it up sent me pictures....... Looks like it's missing 2k lbs.

Just like your smart phone, I have an update for you.
Before I even got started I knew a few problems I was going to run into.
1. My led fog lights won't work because the bolt holes holding them in place are now used for the winch bolts.
2. The grill will get in the way from the non removable winch control box.
3. The Kc light bars let's have to to be removed to fit the winch in the space.
SOLUTIONS:
1. Drill new holes to bolt up fog lights.
2. Look close at the pictures. Trimmed it all nicely
3. Still need to install ditch light brackets and spot light replacements.

I did some matinance n the truck today. I changed the oil which was much needed! Oil prices as super black, So I put back in some MMO as a quart replacement for the next 5k miles to help clean some a bit.
Got the ditch light brackets installed today. What a pain in the ass. I didn't know you had to remove the fenders prior to starting. I had to look up CBI instructions.
I got some pictures during the install.
Remember I put a winch on a couple months ago. Well in order to install it, I had to remove my round 6" Kc lights. But I missed the round spots so I decided to put in some ditch lights. I took these Kc hyper spot "sealed aircraft landing lights from my 96 4runnner way back when on the first page of my build thread.

so ive been thinking about increasing mpg and making my truck "blend in" a little better.
since i dont really off road it anymore, i have toys for that.
i want to take some things off.
tail light guards, cbi ditch lights, led light bar, body lift, front bumper. make it be a DD a little bit better.
so we will see what changes here soon. :behindsofa:

Yeah I thought I would like them more, But I think it's just kinda ugly, Like they don't belong there.
What can I say, I'm getting older and the aftermarket stuff is wearing off.

SO..... After running and replacing my headlight bulbs (silverstar ultras) for years, about every year i was replacing on or close to both, they just didnt last long at all so i starting looking else where for other lights because i was fed up with these junky lights.
So on 4runner maffia on facebook i posted asking what headlights people were running. I got lots of good answers, but one buddy tipped me onto these LED headlights he has on his truck. After looking at the reviews on amazon and the warranty, I figured i would bite the bullet and make a pretty hefty purchase for some bulbs.
There are the ones he told me to get, and those are the ones i got.
DAMN they are much brighter then my silver star ultras.
If anyone is looking for some better bulbs with out going projectors (lots more money). I would tell you to get these!!!!

yeah, my back tires were lower (sitting in the parking lot drain) i didnt realize that until i posted the pictures. but i made sure they are not blinding people at their normal height. but they are bright.

Local Rescue Recovery
So a couple days ago on the local off road page a thread came up that some people were stuck out in the hills. at 7pm we got word that there were 7 vehicles stuck out there and needed some help.
while 3 jeeps and me head out to recover these vehicles.
Turns out there is still a few feet of snow out in the hill 45 min away from town. Everyone went out there because the weather was warm during the day. Some went hiking, Some went to see the sun set, Some went to just get out of town. All off these people were not together, they just happened to all get stuck on the same road about 4 miles apart.
When we get there i was running in high 4 center diff locked and rear locked with tire pressure at 35 psi.
So what happend to these people, they came out in the AM when the snow was still hard and frozen from the night before, during the day it warmed up, lots of people drove down the road and dug ruts (railroad tracks in the snow, good luck getting out of ruts or keep from bottoming out.) so not the ruts became soft tilled up snow with no traction thus they became stuck.
so when we get there the road is at its worst. the sun is starting to go down and i am glad i have all my lights on this truck to see all 360 to who ever is stuck.
we first pulled up and found a jeep stuck in a ditch. the wrangler in our group winched him out. But as we are going into the hills we now have a jeep in our way thats trying to go back into town. So we plow off the road with just enough room for him to slide by, As that happens 2 other trucks come driving down the road, they got themselves unstuck. after this we all drop tire pressure into the teens.
everyone gets past and we start going deeper into the hills to recover the other trucks. Now if anyone has driven in ruts, you know its hard to get out of and you dont steer. keep enough throttle from getting stuck and sinking in the ruts and slow enough that you dont get thrown around into the back seats. thats how bad the road was. 15-30 mph it gets bouncy and slamming side to side.
well we get to a couple other trucks. pull them out and pull each other out.
Here are some pictures. it was a long fun 4 hour night of recovery in the hills.
