Just installed a body lift and I'm looking to put a short throw shifter on to make the shifting smoother. I want your opinions on the marlin crawler short throw kit vs the urd one.

I don't see how a short throw shifter is going to make your shifting smoother. Short throws are used to shorten the length required to select the next gear, in turn decreasing shift time.

If you want a smooth shifting transmission then drain your gear oil and replace it with Redline gear oil.

The body lift makes the rubber shift boot stretch so the shifting is more difficult. Short throw moves the pivot up reducing the effect of the body lift

One more bump

First post. Ok. I get it. You had a question.

Two bumps in less than 18 hours? for a total of three posts, two of them bumps?

GIVE PEOPLE SOME TIME!!

It's Sunday. People are going to church, spending time with the family, wheeling, or relaxing.

If you have nothing better to do than bump a post twice in less than 6 hours, you, my friend, need to find something to do.

That being said:

How much body lift did you install?

Did you think to extend the shifter, and angle it so it sits straighter?

What about moving the shift boot?

Where did you get the body lift from?

Look into 4Crawler. He has just a shifter extension.

There's other alternatives other than just throwing a short throw kit on it...

Smoother shifts are more a problem solved by a better operator.

If you feel the rubber boot is the problem, cut like an 1/8" of it in a circle off of the top of the boot.

Haha guess I don't know the proper bump procedure. Ill keep that in mind for the future.

Went with a 1.5 inch body lift from 4crawler. Ill look into your suggestions about moving the boot and or cutting it.

i have the URD kit and i like it. That said, Marlins one piece design is much better even if it does cost a little more. I would have bought Marlins if it was available when i bought my short shift kit.

I installed my 1.5 body lift saturday and had the same problem. What I did was to take the bottom boot (with the 2 smaller holes) off and flip the top boot upside down. I can tell there is a little resistance when shifting, but it doesn't bind or try to pop out of gear, it works so far.
