Only one had the Limited V8 that I wanted in Ti, and I remember there were only two Limited 4Runners with Nav. Again that's out of 7 big dealerships. Eventually you'll find one, might take some looking.

Back in 2006 when my parents were looking for a V8 Limited with nav, it was impossible to find in the tri-state area. Just talk to the manager of your dealer and they will either custom build it for you or reallocate one. I think the dealer reallocated a truck that was going to another state for my parents. In the end, they got what they wanted. Don't give up!

I think you'd be surprised at the cost and ease of installation too. I believe the factory navigation is at least a $2000 option. If you buy an Eclipse navigation system with bluetooth capability, you're looking at about half the cost.
A few other advantages of adding the Eclipse unit:
1- Display screen is bigger (7") and I believe has a higher resolution.
2- Can be installed so that it doesn't lock out any features while in motion. The early Toyota units had a bypass feature that allowed this, but the upgraded navigation DVD eliminated the bypass feature.
3- Can play your DVDs.
4- Much better stereo--more powerful and much more control of the sound.
5- Can be "plug-n-play" by purchasing the correct wiring harness. Extra wiring is absolutely minimal--maybe two wires at the most.

The stealership I bought mine has had 2 that I know of. 04 that was sold in less than 3 days, and less than 24 hours after I had test drove it. And then the 03 that I bought, and they hadn't even had a chance to detail it after the previous owner traded it in before it came home with me. So like others have said, one I think they must be hard to come by, and two, when they are there they don't stick around for too long. Let all the lots around you know you're looking for one, and let the competition for your business begin!!

They do seem very rare. My friend in Fountain Valley, CA (SoCal) had to drive all the way to Pasadena to get his 2008 Limited V8 4WD with NAV. It was about a 45 mile trip. It was the only one with a factory NAV out of 3 dealerships that even had a Limited V8. He had his heart set on Shadow Mica but settled for the Galactic Gray since his chances of finding one in Shadow were next to nil. I persuaded him to just get it since he may never know when anyone will have one with a NAV.
Yes, I could probably get one if I drove 45 miles.
The aftermarket nav is tempting as there are a couple beautiful 2007 Limiteds locally without nav. I don't think I could handle it though.
I'm still amazed that Toyota would offer these without nav at all. If anything, the ones without nav should be the rare ones. You're talking $40+K for these vehicles.

I don't find it too unusual that navigation is rare on the 4Runner. I think portable units are so popular now that people would rather skip the in-dash navigation system and the extra cost associated with it. I'd bet far less than 10% of all 4Runners are equipped with factory navigation. If the demand was higher, I'm sure Toyota would be making more of them with navigation!

Look at all the Highlanders with nav! Seems to me the 4Runner is an afterthought for Toyota now. All the dealers I've visited has few of them and usually they are in the back of the lot.
Personally, the last thing I want is an extra box hanging off my windshield in a $40K vehicle. Plus, it's inevitable that a law will be passed here in PA making cell phone usage illegal. Bluetooth is another must in a vehicle badged as a "Limited."
Maybe Toyota really just wants people to bite the bullet and buy the Lexus GX. I personally wouldn't mind the GX but I like the roll down tailgate window...

I'd bet that less than 50% of ANY vehicle line is sold with in-dash factory navigation, unless it is standard equipment. I see far more Highlanders without navigation than with it. I think you'd be surprised at the numbers, if you were able to find the sales figures for vehicles with factory navigation compared to vehicles without it. It's really not that common...

Not remotely worth it IMO. Would much rather get a Garmin or TomTom and mount it on the dash.

Yeah I'd rather spend the money on a update DVD than buy a whole new system. I still prefer the indash Nav. One of the reasons I've never bought a radar scanner, other than they are illeagal in some areas, as I don't like things cluttered on my dash. I really like the whole intergrated radio tuner and Nav though. It's worth it. IMHO
Still maybe will get a radar dector...I'm up to 2 speeding tickets now...anyone have any reccomendations for those!?!?!? And don't give me 'slow down', I'm trying! Watching my MPG go down works better than the thought of a ticket.:bash:

I personally cannot see spending money on a Limited and not having Bluetooth or Nav.
I may be in the minority or I'm used to my Acura dealership where virtually all of their MDX's have it. The last thing I want is some unit thats not integrated into anything. I keep my cars for 8+ years. I don't want it to be obsolete technology wise in the first year.

Ha, well I found out tonight I can still go 75 mph, at about 2100 rpm and still get 17.8 mpg.

It's not Toyota's fault that there are no Limiteds on your dealer lot with navigation. Blame your regional distributor, they specify what vehicle options and combinations they want and believe would sell.
At this point, it would be best to work with a dealer you trust and either have them order your 4Runner with the options you want or see if there is one coming into your region or that's been allocated to the US. Your dealer should have the ability to see what's in transit to the US from Japan.
If you're going aftermarket, I would recommend the Eclipse AVN5510 or AVN6610. Eclipse units as mentioned, integrates the easiest with Toyotas, straight PnP, with the exception of reverse and speed sensor wires, IIRC.
Portables are a good option, but unless it's always in the glovebox, you might find yourself one day needing it and it's sitting at home. Certainly the cheapest solution by far.
