Should I be worried?

I was changing my oil yesterday and noticed this around the driver side boot.

Is this the cv boot, or lower ball joint or what? What is the difference between them all? The passenger side looks nice and clean.

Both mine did that when i did the lift i just put new screw down clamps on the otter part of the boot and fixed it.

its the cv for sure.

Definitely a CV boot. Happens to the best of us. If your mechanically inclined do it yourself. Don't do what I did and head to the stealership!

What all needs to be done? Does the clamp just need to be tightened? The previous owner left a folder of all the maintenance records with the vehicle and I believe he had the cv seals replaced within the last year or two. I'll have to go back and check the folder to see exactly when.

Search rebooting CV. There are plenty of threads. There is a Toyota OEM rebuild kit you can get.

You need to put new clamps on not retighten.
