good luck finding another 5spd with low miles like that! when i was looking for a T4r last year that was the few i found were going for +40k miles. 5spd seem to be a $3k premium.... pretty good as i think they were cheaper originally.

i'd offer them $8500, but be happy at $9k.

Thanks Joe. Hopefully I can act quick enough on it... I've missed out on quite a few. Where in NorCal are you? Just moved out of SJC a couple years ago.

Yes definitely. If it has a rear locker even better. I bought mine in California which means there there was no rust anywhere. Make sure that all the 120k services were done(timing belt, water pump, ect all supposed to be done every 60k) that is about a 900 dollar service if it's done at the dealership.
 
Word to the wise: directly linking to the ad and not re-hosting photos and copy pasting the words leaves you vulnerable to the tR4 vultures, who will swoop down and callously grab this clean truck right from under you!:sobbing:
 
I think its a good deal, but see if you can get lower price.
I gave up looking for a decent 5 speed and ended up with an automatic

not sure about 3bears, but that dealer had a great 2000 5spd 4x4... last xmas. they wanted nearly $12k!

to the OP good luck with it, it looks clean. yep i'm dang near SJC.
 
i searched for 3rd gens forever. You are going to end up paying more than kbb for one in good condition. I paid 9500 for an 02 SR5 4x4 with leather and a few more upgrades. Has 155,000 miles on it. It was at a car lot.

I drove 5 hours to get it. People love these things. Had a hard time finding one without considerable rust also.
 
My .02 cents: If its what you want and you can afford it, you better act quick! I obsessively searched for a 5-speed for 9 months. Everything I found was selling in under 2 hours for more than KBB. I eventually got to the point where a few extra bucks didn't matter anymore, and ended up driving 1,300 miles for mine. No regrets.
 
R150f trannies pop up on Craigslist almost daily for ~$300. There's a complete DIY guide to convert it. In the grand scheme of things, even if I were mechanically incompetent, I'd buy an auto 4runner for ~$5k, pay a mechanic $1,000 (including parts & labor) to convert it to manual. Then, not only do I have a fresh clutch, slave cylinder, etc but I also can have my pick of the litter with automatic 4runners.

Can't buy a Thundercloud 5 spd :D

So, if you can pick up a 5-speed 4Runner for $3,000 or less, then the seller kinda paid you to take it off his hands :)
 
Bought it! Well, I should say my wife just bought it! They'll deliver it after doing the timing belt, etc. Can't wait to get home from deployment so I can drive it!
