Should I call Toyota and complain?

So $1500 later for the drivers side manifold I am told that my passenger side has a small crack in the secondary line which is aluminum. Has anyone ever fad any luck doing this. My 06 just hit 96k. Or am I just wasting my time?

There is no harm in complaining. If there is something they can do, they will do it. By not calling you have no chance.

Please explain again what happened, you spent 1500 on service only to be told its part of the problem?

No I am sure they won't. But also this is a known problem. So it's not like I am calling to complain about a taillight going out. This is a known problem. I was just curious if anyone has ever had any luck doing it.

I can't speak to the manifold issue (although my recently traded in 03 Limited did have this problem - and I never fixed it on the recommendation of my trusted mechanic ... "just drive it!" were his exact words ... someone else's problem now).

I did send Toyota Canada a detailed email regarding the safety implications of my experience with a seized front brake caliper (another well-known issue).

They did not do anything about it (i.e., no financial compensation or the like), but at least I put it on the record with them. I also forwarded their reply to Transport Canada.

Only by reporting issues that concern us owners can change happen - such as safety recalls for problems that the manufacturers eventually have to address ... Takata airbags, anyone?!?

I'm confused, what secondary part are you referring to? The manifolds are steel, I also believe the EGR/AIP passage on those is also steel on the exhaust manifold.

I would bet the passenger side manifold is cracked just like the drivers side was.

No they checked it all out and it looked good. There is an aluminum rail that runs the length of the manifold that had a small crack in it. That's what they are telling me. If the passenger side was cracked, trust me, they would want to charge me for it!!

i had the same problem. took it back and it was covered under the emissions warranty because the manifold and cat are 1 piece.
