should I cancel extended warranty and resist all?

got my runner couple days ago and everything was so quick and ofcourse with all the sweet talk the dealer was feeding me, I didn't realize I had purchased extended warranty for 8 years 80k miles for a price of $1800 and an interior resist all for $700 and GAP. from your experience should I cancel all these additional protection? any adive would be appreciated. thanks.

Total rip-off. Cancel it. If it can't make it 80k without a problem you might as well buy a Jeep.

i think mine is 7 year for 125,000 K and they through in the complete interior exterior protection package, i think i paid like 1200 for it.

I intentionally bought GAP for $300 and the 7yr / 125K / 0 deductible for $1300. Didn't do the interior thing.

I'm not sure if you can get your money back on the warranty, but you definitely overpaid. Search "extended warranty" and you'll find a few threads with folks comparing prices and pointing you towards Jerry at Midwest Toyota who sells factory warranties cheap.

I regret to tell you that you can. Warranties are a big profit margin item for most dealers, so they push the high price. I only knew to hold out for the low price thanks to this forum. I had at least one dealership tell me flat out that they couldn't meet the price that Jerry @ Midwest had quoted me, but thankfully my purchasing dealer did meet the price.

If you don't find the old threads on the topic, let me know and I'll search. Definitely a wealth of knowledge / experience on this forum!

I got my GAP through my auto insurance. It was a whole 4 dollars a year I think. lol

I didn't know I could negotiate warranties either. I don't want to say what I paid. It's too embarrassing. lol

Here's what the dealer offered me (and that I declined):
Extended warranty : 2000$
Electro-rust protection (total scam) : 1600$
Interior protection (it's just teflon) : 400$
Antitheft Markings: 200$
3M paint protection : 800$

Take all that and that make 5k$, placed for 8 years at 4.3%, that's 7k$ in today dollar.

That's a sh|tload of money for repairs if something goes wrong. (which probably won't, after all it's a Toyota).

The one thing I'd say might have been a fair price was the 3M paint protection. I had it put on the whole front of my truck / fender flares / rocker panel a couple months ago (Truck was new in Nov '10). It cost more than what your dealer quoted you, and I shopped around / consulted the forum.

I found out after the fact as well. However, you are allowed to cancel your Toyota extended warranty and I had the dealer upgrade mine to the top 125K one as opposed to me cancelling.

I believe you're all looking for Jerry at midwestsuperstore.com. He is/was the cheapest warranty available (Toyota factory warranty, not an aftermarket).
