Show me your fender trimming for 285s

This weekend I installed a 3" Toytec lift with SPC UCAs and Spidertrax wheel spacers and had 285/75R16 BFG KO2s put on yesterday. So far the tires have cleared the rear of the fenders, but the passenger side tire is starting to pull the bumper and flare into the tire. I'll get some pictures of the contact this afternoon when I get home.

Those of you who've trimmed your fat lip bumpers, how did you do it? What would you do differently?

What size spacer do you have?

With those wheels (same as me) a 1.25" spacer is going to rub bad. I've got a 0.75" spacer in the front. I also did a 1" body lift which made a difference.

Did you get it aligned? What was your spc arms set at? What was the caster numbers?

Usually you can just trim the bumper with a dremel.

Yep, 1.25". I couldn't find anything smaller and I needed a set to keep the tires out of the UCA.

Yep, had it aligned when the tires were installed. I don't have the alignment sheet with me but it was all "nominal" according to their computer. I set the UCA caster to E when I put it all together in an attempt to keep the tires out of the pinch welds but the tire shop may have changed that. I'll have to check this afternoon.

Im almost 99% positive they didnt touch the UCA settings since most dont know anything about them.

THey most likely maxed your LCA cam bolts. I run your wheel spacer size now on my rig with like wheels and have no rub. But I do have a body lift. Most likely all you need to do is trim that bumper and you will be good to go.

Even with a 1" body lift I had to trim the bottom of the valence. Also the plastic fender well. I didn't have Limited flares either. The bottom front will probably have to come off.

Bottom front what?
OP, you shouldn't be rubbing the UCA's with that wheel and tire setup. I am running a wider wheel(9" wide), wider tire(315mm), with 5" BS, and I only kiss the UCAs at droop.
Did you bolt the wheels and tires on without spacers, or just figured you would need the spacers? I ran 285/75R16 on the same wheels as you- without spacers- on a 3" lift, and they didn't rub the factory arms.
Do the SPC stick out further than the OEM arms? I thought they didn't stick out as far, but I really don't know.
All that to say: this is how I trimmed mine-

Can't tell from the side-

Looks super close, but with the summer small scrub radius of the et0 offset wheels, the tire tucks right in.
I have gone on mild-moderate trails, and the tire will rub slightly in certain situations.
The flare helps a ton in hiding the trimming. The valance is trimmed back 3-4" at the bottom, and angles right up to the bottom corner of the bumper itself.
I used tin snips to trim the plastics, and then a file and sandpaper to make the edges look nice and clean- dare I say factory looking?

That looks great. The two 3rd gens you've had are some of the best looking 4runners I've seen.

As far as the spacers go, the tires did clear the UCAs by about 3/8" without spacers. However, the tire shop pointed out that the tires will flex some while turning at speed and I wasn't excited about tearing up $1100 worth of tires.

Half the reason I bought the SPC UCAs was to not have to worry about tires rubbing UCAs, so I ended up ordering the spacers after I installed the lift. If I can make the tires clear like this though, I'll be ok with it because I like the stance.

Think about the direction of the flex and what is happening in the suspension at that time. If you have 3/8" clearance at full droop, you'll be fine once the suspension is compressed at speed.

Also, those (stock) upper control arms won't eat away at the tires.

Of course, if you like the look, keep the spacers!

Just got home and looked at the UCAs - they actually did change the caster from E to D, shockingly enough. I guess that would have put the tires further away from the front bumper though, so oh well.

I haven't checked the LCA cam bolts, since I didn't want to crawl up under it in my work clothes but I'm going to trim the bumper and flares tomorrow, so I will look then.

Thanks all for the input.

If your not rubbing at the firewall during full flex or turning I would keep it where its at and trim the front bumper valence.
