Looking for some inspiration! About to start some work on my interior and I'd love to see what mods you guys have done. New stereo headunits, speakers installs, tablet mounts, GPS set ups, DVD setups, storage boxes, etc, etc, etc.

Initially I am looking to swap my headunit for a DDIN Kenwood. Upgrade speakers. 7in Tablet mount. And whatever else might inspire me!

stock headunit, but my interior upgrades included a wood grain steering wheel and matching wood grain shift knob

really like it since its a factory look, airbags still works, and much smoother touch for my hands while driving

Best thing I've done to my 4th gen is the dash light mod. Changed the look completely. I then put in a double din head unit with selectable colors.

Forgive the dust but I take pride in my interior otherwise.

Nice Bokeh shots :becky:

I like that dead pedal idea too. And your double din screen has me super jelly.

gaterose How do you like the red? Less strain at night? That's how my work ride is set up and I thought about getting my 4runner red instead of blue or white.

gaterose Damnit Matt! That sold me on the red....time to yank all the white LEDs haha.

I like the red LEDs a lot, it's probably a bit less strain on the eyes at normal brightness but I wouldn't say the difference is huge. The red seems more vivid I guess? Maybe not the right word, either way I dim it so it's less bright than I kept the amber lights but the red stays more clear and easy to read comparatively.

I wanted white because it looks cool, but it seemed like it would be too bright and we spend a lot of late nights on the road (when we can) so I went for red. It's not a huge difference over the orange but I like it a lot.

Thanks I was trying to play around with the aperture and my 35mm/1.8 a little and make the shots look nicer. My yorkie walks all over the center console switches and brighted a few people before I decided that I needed an override. It can also be used to flash all lights off and back on at once when necessary. $7

White LED Backlighting and sound deadening/stereo

On the surface mine looks pretty much OEM aside from white LED backlighting w/ reverse LCD film, reverse mounted sub and the CDA-117 Alpine.

But Underneath the OEM trim - stereo upgrade

Sound deadening/insulation on floor/doors/roof:

Custom amp mount and modified OEM sub box:

HokieRunner. Is the reverse mounted sub in that position solely for space savings, or is there an acoustic advantage to that method of mounting?

Main reason for the reverse mount was I didn't have the clearance to mount it traditionally...the sub basket/magnet was deeper than the OEM box. I could have gone with a shallower sub but was deadset on the Elemental Design E3.8. So instead of adding spacers I just flipped it. As far as acoustic advantage there really isn't any. I can adjust the subwoofer phase on my head unit so I just tuned it for what sounded best.

Some people reverse mount for looks, or to help keep the coils cooler in very high powered applications.

Red is the color that supposedly effects night vision the least... This why it's used onboard navy vessels in the pilot house from sunset to sunrise...

Some studies have begun to dispute this though, so whatever color you choose as long as it's dimmable and you have it as low as practical to still see your gauges that's the most important thing for having minimal impact on your night vision when you look back out your windshield. Of course when you look directly into oncoming traffic headlights, you're dash lights don't really matter at this point... haha.

FJ Auxiliary & Off Road light switches for front and roof LEDs

Gator, is there a writeup on how you set up the wiring for the FJ switches?

I was going to just buy relays and set it up myself, but figured I'd ask when I saw how many you had used. If you used your own relays, what pins on the switch did you connect to?

Those switches look great! <---see? Easy Peasy.

Very cool thread. Looking forward to seeing more photos of LED conversions, and foot well lighting.

Are ya'll doing your own LED dash swaps or outsourcing it?
