ill try to get some more in the morning, and hopefully it will be in the snow :biggrin2:

Thanks Liny. I didnt catch the question. I built the complete rear bumper and actually my swing away is the only thing I need/ want to change a little. I used 2x2 .25 wall and a better cross tube and what I am going to change over to is 2x3 .25 wall so it has more surface attached at the hinge. and will raise the spare a little higher so I can fit my hi-lift along the bottom of it.

Nice job on the bumper - i wanted to mount my spare on the rear instead of up top, but about the only way is to do what you did, looks good.

All the rack baskets looking very nice....too bad Costco is not offering those baskets anymore I sure would have like to get one of those...

Does anyone has one of this below?...and does it make a big difference the weight of the same basket?...I have seen some that weights 20lbs vs others that weights 40+...which would be better?. I am interested
I go on roadtrips at least twice a year and this would be very handy to me.

I am liking this one

PS: didn't realized that GottabTRD has one....my bad....

Speaking of having Christmas lights on our trucks, I was wondering if that's legal or not. More especially at night.

I think it looks pretty cool.

I know when i was driving big rig that I had a Wreath on my grill and never got hassled. Most states do have a law against No red or blue lights but that is mainly to keep people from getting confused with law enforcement and emergency vehicles. Would have to be pretty hard up to bust you for X-mas lights if you ask me.

Hmm. Maybe I could do some white lights on a wreath. lol

Not to take this thread off-topic, but white lights to the rear of the vehicle (other than your reverse lights) are illegal. You'd be better off with red and green, I'd think. Yellow and orange should work too, since those are standard "running light" colors anyway. Can't comment on blues or purples. It'll probably just be up to the cop and how "festive" he or she is feeling that day.

It is, but would one of those racks hold a spare tire like the Yakima Loadwarrior etc???

I think this thing takes up to 110 lbs.

But not everybody carry the spare tire up there..this would be for someone that just go camping or on a roadtrip very often. Its kind of like the COleman that was on sale before at costco that everyone hurried up and bought .....it was about the same price..and several guys here at t4r has them. I just tought someone on a budget and that dont need to carry real heavy stuff may be interested.

not a fan of the Yakima rack and i'm from washington (home of the real Yakima)
it's pretty So Gay

i prefer the real safari racks like a surco style one (real safari racks have high sides to load more stuff and keep gas canisters from tipping out)

the yakima loadwarrior shows its 6.5 inches deep, most of the other racks are only 5 inches deep...

all the Surco ones I see here are only 5 inches deep

Roof Basket - Google Product Search

So this weekend, Sn0wrunner gave me a link to a Loadwarrior in Ft. Collins, left here about 7:30 this morning and went and got it!

110$ with the universal hardware... and its pretty much BRAND NEW! the guy got it wholesale cuz he works for Nissan... he put it on his wifes Xterra and couldnt park in the garage.

Cant wait to get it on and get some pics, but wanted to see how all you guys with Roof Racks keep people from walking away with it?? And are the Factory Crossbars locked onto the 4runner??
