just got this last week
question for you BajaRack guys:
can you easily slide it out and slide it back in? is it a one man job?
i know with the factory rails you have to have one person guide it in while someone else spins the little nuts until they line up...I'd like a rack I can easily slide off for car washes and parking garages and whatnot
I dont have any accessories on mine and can take it off by myself no problems. To do it you would unbolt the rack from the slide in brackets and then remove the slide in brackets if need be. Truck is 6'10 with lift, tires and rack mentioned in signature line.
I wonder if they use the same mounting system, I assume so. Mine is up there to stay, especially with the lights all wired up.
Also, how big is the 3rd gen rack? I think mine is 47" x 74" .
The 3rd Gen has rails in the roof for the factory rack that brackets slide into then the rack sets on top and bolts to them. I believe the rack is approx 41w x 54 or 60 long. I think the 4th Gen is like the FJ rack and has fixed feet that bolt right to the roof since it doesnt have the same rail type system.

To the 3rd gen ppl. Im kinda thinking about getting me some cross bars. What size do I need? I dont want them to long and hanging out very far from the sides. Thanks.
These all look really great - BUT - how does one install a roof rack / basket on a 2nd Gen that didn't come with a roof rack from the factory? Is there a kit available somewhere, or am I looking at 100% home fabrication?
Thanks for the help.
