Show us your rack!

There was a thread a couple years ago about the Coleman roof rack from Costco. It was a good price and it fits both the 3rd gen and 4th, so I picked one up before I bought my 4th gen. I have only used it twice. I like it because you can just throw suitcases and boxes in it and easily tie them up.

I have this one as well...it is identical to a rack product by SportRack. Mine has the front wind deflector installed...looks like the yak loadwarrior imo. You can also buy a "cargo net" that fits perfectly, and with that on you have no worries that anything will fly out.

My complaint is the fastening of the 8 screws seems to take forever. I'd like to see a quick on/off system.

I'm searching for a rack with large enough crossmembers to hold two Thule "J" kayak mounts. Anyone?

TIA

I was just thinking the same thing.....I didn't see anyone with a rack for a canoe or kayaks. Just bought a 2011 Limited, so looking for something to carry my canoe and kayaks.

Update: Just found some information on Yakima mounts that will allow me to use the Yakima equipment I already own....

I just mounted a rage powersports basket. I really don't think the noise is that bad...w/ the sunroof open can't even hear it...w/ it closed, doesn't sound as bad as my ski rack did. I don't have the fairing and don't plan on getting one b/c the noise is very much tolerable.

I'm highly considering grabbing this basket... although, can you throw a ski rack on this basket to hold a snowboard?

I had beach chairs, a grill and cooler in the rack on the way out to the beach. I put the custom 4Runner white vinyl on the rack faceplate.

Here's my rack. Sports Rack - Canadian Tire, $250.00
My 4Runner didn't come with any factory installed brackets so I had to modify it a little and make up my own. I'll tell you this, it took 2 weeks of convincing myself to actually drill the 4 holes into the roof! Once the first hole was drilled...it was pretty easy and fast to mount. All sealed with weather proof silicone.

Yes those are hockey pucks, won't be a Canadian mod without it. They are only 1inch thick so the bar keeps a low profile and also doesn't damage the roof. Bolted down through the 2 roof braces.

This is the metal plate that I made up to help support/brace the bolt from the inside.

CLEMSON, I've been contemplating the Rola Vortex with extension, but was concerned with the tilt feature of the moonroof; does this interfere in any way, or is it still fully funtional?

I have been carrying around the Surco Safari for almost the last year, but it sits pretty high, so thinking about selling for the Rola.

Thanks!

So many diff racks to choose from.

Hard to decide.

I agree! Lots of good options out there, so it boils down to personal choice based on looks and price. After looking at all the information I decided to go with the Yakima Mega Warrior rack....not the sexiest product on the market, but I've used Yakima products for years and trust the brand. The rack arrived yesterday and as expected, it is a solid product. It was easy to put together and fits nicely on the factory roof rails and cross bars. I don't intend to leave the rack on the vehicle all the time, so this choice provided a good middle of the road option for me.....good product at a relatively decent price. If I were going to attach a rack permanently to my vehicle I definitely would have gone with something different....most likely the Bajarack.

Built my own rack...I built it to be able to re-use the old wind deflector from my Coleman rack
