We're going to be taking some ideas from our new Land Cruiser tire carrier for a new 3rd gen bumper/carrier that we will be designing soon.

Looks good Scotty! Just wish I could have built something like that....but wanted to keep my stock bumper....not to mention....my / my friends skills aren't as good as yours either! HA HA!

Its a customer of mine who lives up in the Aspen area. We have been working on several production based items for them. Sliders, Winch bumper, rear bumper/tire carrier, etc.

We also installed the lift, tires/wheels, 4.88 gears, etc. Pretty much a full, turn key build from a stock LX450.

What are you using for the pivots? Bearings or a bushing? Delrin bushing?

Why did you extend that beam past the wheel mounting point? Id be scared that thing would slam into the back window or something if you get rear ended, just a big lever arm!

Basically its brass bushings inside a 1/4 wall DOM Sleeve. Stupid strong.

It extends past because the tire needs to be preloaded on it.

Any tire carrier will get pushed into the window/hatch if rear ended hard enough.

They are Level 8 Strike Six wheels. Pretty sure Redline makes them for Level 10. I have an identical Redline wheel in polished Aluminum on my 4runner. Mine are the Redline Renegade Six:

The ones on the LX are powder coated a silver pearl. Pretty damn nice IMO. I ordered them for him through Discount Tire Direct. They are like $140/ea roughly. Pretty cheap IMO.

That looks really nice, but it looks like the rear licence plate is blocked by the spare tire, or is it just the angle of the pics? That would cause problems with the popo around here for sure. Otherwise love the design, and the look.

Design looks solid good craftsmanship. You plan on leaving the square beam extended the length of the hatch or are you doing some trimming after fitments? Either way I like it

Scotty will have to speak on that but LX450 and LC80s can run a 35" tire on stock suspension so maybe it has to do with running larger than 35's makes it a better location for someone wanting to upsize tires. :shrug: Thats just an idea.

I'm sure it does...not sure what other companies do for lighting but I'm sure there is a solution for that. Many builders do the license plates there.

probably out of my price range. I would bet just from the metal work alone this would cost the buyer at least $1400 - not a bad deal but just a lot for me.

I wish I had a landcruiser and extra cash. I would drive to CO, give you cash and demand you do my truck next!

I bet it wont be THAT pricy, but being a swing out it wont be cheap. My guess, anywhere from 800-1000.

Scotty, are y'all making this new bumper for 3rd gens ready to order and shipped or walk/drive ins only. Since y'all are still taking ideas, I'd love to see an option for rear quarter panel protection. CBI is the only company I know that makes ones with the rear panel protection ready to order and shipped for 3rd gens.
