Shrockworks front bumper goodness !

Sorry for the duplicate pics since I already posted in the "What did you do to/in your 5th Gen" section, but I got to thinking it would be good info for this thread.

So I came across a great Craigslist deal on a brand new Warn XD9000 for $500. I also found Dyneema synthetic line (3/8"x90') on Quadtratec for a good price. Their yellow line was on close out for $150, can't beat that. It came with a tube thimble and a ridiculously large hook, so I decided to get the new Factor55 Splicer and splice the line on myself. The Splicer is nice since there are fewer parts to fail and they are typically safer than hooks.

As mentioned above by [MENTION=78273]Jeremy556[/MENTION] , it was absolutely necessary to remove the bumper to install the winch. Even if I was able to squeeze the winch into the bumper while it was mounted, it would have been very tedious trying to get the winch bolted up while the bumper was on the vehicle. Also, the mounting of the winch solenoid would have been damn near impossible since this required me to drill two holes.

I mounted my solenoid box on the angled sheet metal that is just below the grill, towards the passenger side, running perpendicular to the radiator. This is where Shrockworks mounted theirs in the install instructions http://oneping.net/instructions/5th Gen 4 Runner - Front Bumper Instructions.pdf

Since there is a hole to mount it on the top of the bumper, and since it would be a pain in the arse to plug the remote in while the solenoid box is hidden behind the bumper, I purchased the Warn 2' extension for, gulp, $45. https://www.amazon.com/Warn-14867-WARN-Socket-Extension/dp/B001PJS6QK

I ran a bead of clear RTV silicone where the extension plugs into the solenoid box just to make sure it is water tight.

All in all this was a straightforward install. Removing the bumper was a piece of cake, but I used an extra set up hands to mount it back up with the winch installed. I also took my time running the wires. I wrapped them with wire loom to protect them and used plenty of zip ties.

Yea, it's nice but I choked at the price of a 2' wire. Do you know if the Rugged Ridge would take a Warn remote? It may be a proprietary piece and I'm not sure if Rugged Ridge makes their own.

I will have to do a deeper research. But so far I have not seen anything yet in the Rugged Ridge Brand.... hence the Warn reputation they might only be made for Warn winch's ....


Can you post me some sideway pics of the rig please, I have a rake from the bumper :/ I need to find a solution as a next upgrade hehe or get a rear bumper to even things out but that's not this year for sure lol ! Also will need some new UCA's which are killing me in the price range fml ......

I'm not at home but here is the rig without the winch installed. I'm going to crank up my coilovers a bit to counter the added weight. I've got about 2" of forward rake going on. When my Icons need rebuilt I will go with the 700lb coils. It will handle the weight better and keep the preload down.

This is an expensive hobby for sure, but I love it!

What will you do when you add the winch because I have a rake and I don't like it can I ad 1 inch spacers in the front or the Old Man Emu Front Trim Spacer 5MM (OME95PF5) like 3 on each side ! I need something....

Your rear 889 coils are giving you 3" of lift instead of 2" like it says in your sig. From the factory, you have about a 1.5"-2" forward rake. So, with 3" of lift in the front and rear, you are going to maintain the same amount of rake. With the weight you have in the front, the coils may start to sag a bit causing more rake. You could use a couple trim spacers with the OME's, but you are still going to have some rake because you shouldn't lift the front more than 3".

You could get some OME 895E coils which will provide about 2" of lift in the rear. This would get rid of some of your rake but it will lower the rear obviously.

I am guessing the compression on the springs will be the same no matter what setup I chose.

I personally would not stack 4 trim spacers. If you want another inch, I would use a 1" spacer on top of your coil.

Installed it last week ! I would like to give a BIG thanks to Mitch from Srockworks. I talked with him a couple of times and he was very nice. I was missing the turn signal lights and when I called him to let him know. He sent it out the same day express mail. I got my lights 2 days later !

The build is solid. Great quality and fits real nice. Here it is guys ! I also went all out with OME Heavy duty coils in the front with all out Nitro Chargers shocks front and back. I kept the medium duty OME coils in the back because I already have the airlift 1000 and I felt like I didnt need them right now.

Tje ride is definitly stiffer and I like it like that
Also got a winch in there hehe.

Now I just need to find some places deep in the woods and get down and dirty lol as the truck is already full of scratchs front small hunting and fishing trips

Looking great man! Stoked for you. How long did it take for your bumper from the date you ordered until it was delivered? Ordered mine about a month ago and I'm assuming it wont be here until Jan/Feb even though they said about 3 months lead time.

If you look at my first post. I thanked Mitch from Shrockworks.... he got things done 1 month before schedule so I would not worry much. You sir are in good hands.

I personally would not stack 4 trim spacers. If you want another inch, I would use a 1" spacer on top of your coil.

OK so if no trim spacers and no front coil spacers, is there another heavy coil I can fit with them OME Nitrochargers to get a good 3+ inch in the front then ?

Looking at options to have a nice sweet real level no rake $hit :/ as I have noticed on many of the builds I saw there is always this constant front rake that is annoying me.

Even with Icon stage 3 to 8 I keep seeing it. I will have no problem if the front is higher than the back as I think it is easier to level out the rear than it is the front.

Let me know what you guys think so I can post a definite final pic once all is to my liking. ( doing semi hard trail mostly fishing and hunting in remote areas once or twice a year. rest is Wife/kids driving around on weekends and daily work.)

Most guys who have level rides are running less than 3" of rear lift. I think you need to lower the rear with the OME 895E's.
