Shrockworks Group Buy 2014?

From what I can tell these just attach to the body. Interesting, they look nice. I'd really like to see them when you have them on.

I think that is accurate, you need a rivet gun for the install. I will definitely post pics when I get a chance, I hope the rest of you do too. The Shockworks stuff is great, it would be my close second choice, and from a price perspective a better value, you guys are making the smart move!

Thanks for the opportunity guys, but I decided to go with the Randy Ellis Designs Sliders. They are top-hull, and the production time they quoted me was just a fraction of what I'd be looking at with shockworks.

I am wondering what it will look like under the running boards of my Canadian Trail Edition. If it's a mess under there I may be interested in a trim package.

I will have to wait and see. Where's the best place to sell my running boards? Is there a market for them?

With these being a body mounted "slider" they mount in the exact same area as our trim kit. I'd be interested to see how much abuse these things can take taking a few things into consideration.

First being that they are body mounted. We make body sliders for the old style jeeps, but the 3/16" plate that braces the body(rather than 1/8") spans at least 6" of the the body on both the side and bottom.

Second the idea of the slider plate being fastened to the body with pop rivets is a bit unsettling personally. I would imagine they have heavier fasteners in there somewhere but the pop rivets cant provide much in the department of strength. One might argue that many air crafts are riveted together, but in that case solid rivets are used in large quantities.

I would think that these would be a decent compromise for light duty use, but I have seen what I have done to 3/16 wall tube on frame mounted sliders in the rocks and would not feel the least bit of comfortable using these sliders to protect my rig in the same scenario. I play hard though, reference my avatar.

Hey guys, nice to hear you discussing our sliders. I just wanted to make a couple comments.
No doubt Shrockworks makes some nice stuff, these are an alternative to that style of slider.
1. You will not need a trim kit, these take the place of that.
2. These Rockers or sliders have the same concept as body mounted Jeep sliders. Not a new concept just new for trucks and SUV's.
3. They are formed in a "box" shape like the frame of trucks and .130 thick. Most truck frames are less than .130 thick, its the "box" shape that gives them the strength.
4. They are bolted to some existing holes AND through the pinch weld. The rivets are used to help hold it in place but do not necessarily depend on the rivets for strength, same idea airplanes use, and the rivets supplied are high strength steel alloy.

Not to be too much of a jerk but Have You contacted them? Some of us, including me, have set up various Group Buys but sitting around for others to do the leg work won't get it done. :sorry:

Way to take the lead jbstrd. I would but I work night shift on a boat in the Gulf and comms are kind of unreliable.

Okay, so I just got off the phone with Mark at Shrockworks. He said a Group Buy is always a possibility if there is enough interest. As mentioned earlier in this thread there will be a pointman (Me) who stays in contact with SW. When enough interest is gauged, I will contact Mark to set up a GB Coupon Code for about a week. At that point, everyone interested will officially order their product on the website or by calling SW direct.

Mark said he typicaly does not do a GB for any less than 10 people. It seems like we already have that amount of interested folks, even without posting this elswhere on the T4R forum. So, that will be my next step. I will post a thread in the General Section along with the other Generation sections pointing people to this thread to maintain the list. Mark said 10 people will be 10% off of anything under the Toyota Section on his site. He did not specify a number, but if there is a higher quantity (my guess would be around 20+) the discount will be raised to 15% off. That is the number I would like to shoot for.

I was thinking about shooting for 2-3 weeks out on this. Mark said the lead time will be their typical 4 months, which is acceptable IMO. He said he is shipping the last of the orders from the previous group buy next week, so that gives you an idea of shipping times.
