Shrockworks rear bumper

Man I can't wait to get mine, here's hoping it ships out this week (wish I would have caught this thread before ordering though... doh!).

Sorry man, these things went fast and we've sold well over ten of them already.

Current lead time its about 4 months on bumpers and tire carriers.

Question about this bumper... is the rear tire carrier portion easily removable?

Since the 4R is also my wife's DD I am looking for a bumper that doesn't have a tire carrier, as it would be a huge hassle for her to have to swing it out of the way everytime she wanted in the back. However, this could be a perfect solution to have the bumper on all the time, then add the tire carrier for our trips.

Anyone know the answer?

Its not something I'd want to do every weekend but pulling the arm off the bumper only requires unbolting the 1" hinge bolt, tapping it up out of the arm and unlatching. You'd also have to put your LP back on the hatch.

I was concerned about the very same thing when I installed mine on my 4Runner which my lady of a whopping 110 lbs DD's, but I just figured I'd see how it went. She hasn't complained once other than mentioning how many people stop her in the parking lots to ask questions and try to talk trucks with her.

Thanks for the info, any chance of some close-up photos of the latch and pin mechanism?

Also do you have any photos of just the bumper? All I saw on the site was the full Monty with carrier and Jerry can mount.

I don't recall whether I ordered the Jerry can mount(s) when I ordered my own rear bumper with tire carrier... can you please check and confirm I did indeed add that option?

picked up my rear bumper this morning (from my buddy who picked it up from your shop a week ago) and got it installed this afternoon

Sorry to bring up an old thread and ask a silly question but I am considering doing this as well. What do you mean by "you have to put your LP back on the hatch." Seems like this is doable to have it on for wheeling trips and remove for
Daily driving, yeah?
 
Im sure the shrockworks is a very strong and well-built bumper, but I can't help but wonder why its so bulky? The departure angle doesn't look very good.

The wheel carrier blocks the standard license plate mount on the truck's hatch, so it includes its own, light and all. Assuming you only have one plate available for the rear, to stay legal you'd have to swap your license back and forth from truck to carrier. Doable for sure, but maybe a significant extra hassle depending on how often you make the change.
