Shrockworks Step-Slider

I'm looking at Steps/Sliders options for my 4Runner. There are some interesting options out on the market, but I like the Shrockworks design the most.
When I look at the side view of them, I mentioned that they do not extend all the way back to the wheel wells.
Could anyone who has Shrockworks, especially their Step variant take a few measurements and post them up?

Front has an appendix at the body seam, so I can understand where 4" comes from, but was wondering why the rear is not extended to the wheel well. Gap of 2.5" at the back seems to be a big one, especially that this area is critical to getting in/out for the second row. I was hopping its an optical illusion and the gap is under 1", but I was afraid real measurements may show that its not an illusion...

The Shrockworks sliders do not make a very good step. They're pretty close to the rocker panel and angles up. They are great sliders and that's really all they are designed to do.

If you are looking for a step that will also function as a slider there are better designs out there for that purpose. I can't tell you how many times passengers in my truck have commented that my "step" sucks and I have to point out that is not what they're there for.

I have these Shrockworks "Step" sliders and they work great as a step for the kids getting into the back seat. Overall, the fit and finish are very nice. The install is a little trickier than some other brands (i.e. stick nuts), but I am happy with these and would get them again if I had to do it over again.

What is it the piece behind the step attached to the rocker (1st picture)?
It looks like metal angle tab bolted to the rocker panel. Is it related to the head Shrockworks or original steps? I don't see it on other 4Runners, unless it's hidden.

I have no idea, its plastic, useless, and attached with 1 bolt....
i had the dealer remove the nerf bars that came on it to save the outrageous $650 they charge for them, perhaps they are related to those?

do all 4R with SR5/Trail rocker panels not have has these super special plastic tabs?

I think it's an air dam. One of the tiny aerodynamic improvements that add up to better mileage when the truck is in stock form (prior to forum membership).

Did you have to make any additional holes in the frame, when installing the shrockworks sliders.....or do they bolt right up?

I had to drill one hole on my passenger side (I think).

If you haven't, check out the C4 Fab sliders with the upswept tread plates..they are fancy!

Since you have a LE, are you cutting or replacing your rockers? The shrockworks step sliders are outstanding, but I have dragged mine on rocks a few times when I felt like a traditional slider would not have hit. The nice thing is it barely scraped the paint, so they are well made. I have two small kids and my wife is 5'2" and they all have no issues using them for a step, I have big feet and I find them more than adequate to reach up to the RTT.

I don't know if the C4 will fit a LE even with different rockers, I assume the bolt holes are there but who knows. They do look nice, having parked next to them, they have a little more clearance than shrockworks.

My plan is to swap the TE Rocker Trims. Having snowy winters, I believe plastic rocker trims are better as they would protect body seam from road debris.

I did drill one hole on the front passenger side. The instructions said it was optional. In my case, about half of the holes aren't threaded, so I used the provided stick nuts and fished them in.

I have a set of step sliders too. I have had them for 3 years now, durability is good (there are a few better out there that spread the load across larger parts of the frame) these are holding up well. I don't take many hits I do have a little bit of surface rust on the powdercoat in a few places, mostly why road grime/salt kicks up an batters the sliders. The thread plates definitely help protect the sides of your truck from rock chips.

Install Question

So I have my ShrockWorks sliders installed and I am very happy with the quality and looks.....Yaaaay!

The install was relatively easy but I'm stumped about something.

The "Stick Nuts" that are used inside the frame are new to me. I understand the concept and had no trouble using them.

Here's the question: What do I do with the "Stick" now? Do I just leave them hanging out of the frame in several locations? Do I bend them and tuck them in so I can replace the plastic plugs that were there originally? Do I try to cut them off?

I am admittedly kind of "nit-noid" about details and I would HATE to just leave them protruding from the frame.

Thoughts?

That's exactly what I did. Made them flush with the frame or how ever I could to get them out of the way.
Just a heads up though, they rust really bad. You can coat them somehow if you want. I wish I would have had I known they would.
