Side rear glass replacement?

The good thing is that of the glass to replace in your topper, thats the most simple. Look at craigslist, ebay, or a junk yard. You shouldnt have a hard time finding one. Their call the "quarter glass"
They are a bolt in peice. To remove, unbolt all nuts from inside. Then using a panel tool(or wide tipped common screwdriver) placed between the glass and fiberglass topper at each bolt location twist/pry the glass out; slowly loosening and stretching the butyle tape untill the glass can be removed.(start at the bottom front bolt and be sure you pry between the encapsulation and the topper, not on the glass itself) after the bottom and sides are free you will be able to work the glass side to side from outside pulling up and out simutaniously. Clean butyle from the topper
To install, simply get a roll of butyle and place it around the interior surface of the glass, outside of the bolts. Make your seam at the bottom. Line up holes for tge bolts and lightly press the glass into the topper. Tighten bolts starting with the rear top bolt working to the front bottom to assure the glass seat correctly.
You can get butyle at most auto glass shops, parts store, or online at C.R. Lawrance. Its just a black tar like material that comes in a round strip. You can use solid butyle or foam core 1/4" thick. Either works.

I just did my passenger rear quarter glass ma few weeks ago on my 92. I got it from a wrecking yard -$145 - they pulled it and I got to look at it first, good thing because the sealing surface was all gouged up from the last guy who installed it, so they found me another one, and it was perfect. BTW there are only 2 colors gold or gray. Since mine was shattered into a million pieces I used a long razor knife with the breakaway blades and was able to cut around it an pull at the same time. After unbolting the nuts of course. Cleaned up the urethane from the sealing surface by pealing it all off - pretty easy - got a tube of 3M window weld and glued the new one in, bolted it down and no leaks, pretty easy.

BurningAir, Thank you for the great description on how to do this. One of my winter projects is to pull the glass out of the top on mine and replace the rubber components, get the glass tented, and paint the top black.
Any tips on removing the sliding glass from the front of the rear cover?

How do I save a thread? I have to replace my qrtr panel window this weekend if I can find out at the junk yard. No idea how to save this so I can come back to it.

Plastic Shims for Quarter Window Removal
It appears our passenger quarter window was previously removed and replaced, as we had butyl tape that had hardened in the gap.
To add to this post (which was the best resource anywhere) I wanted to note we had luck using plastic shims at the bolt sites to increase separation.
Then we used a box knife as we got the glass far enough away to cut it, pull and move the shims along.
