Side Steps removed

Anyone have any pics of the gen4 with side steps removed?? Also if anyone has done it how hard was it and how many holes are left afterwards?

How easily they can be removed and installed back? If yes, can I remove them in the morning, go trailing and install in the afternoon. How much it may take me to remove and installed it?

The running boards are held on with a couple of bolts. 15 minutes to remove both sides. With a second person about the same time to put them back on. The only thing that might take a little longer is to disconnect and reconnect and protect the wiring of the lights if you have them. If you do a search there are a couple of pictures with them removed.

There are 6 bolts on each side if memory serves me right and it is super easy to remove. Should be easy to put back on as well.

Let everyone else has mentioned, super easy on and off. Just pull one and see if you like it. This is my 3rd favorite mod after my Cornfed lift and 06 LED tails.

I looked at all your pictures and it doesn't look for me that this mod will give more ground clearance. Am I wrong?

This will give you NO extra ground clearance. It is for a different look and/or to save them from haging up or getting damaged off-roading.

I'm not doing it for ground clearance. I'm doing it because I hate dragging my pants across them (seeing as how I don't step on them) and the steps can never get clean. I'm also trying to go for a "street truck" look and I think the body would look better without the steps.

The steps keep ALOT of road crap off the side of your doors. The little black plastic mudflaps do an ok job, but the steps really take the brunt of the road debris. Keep that in mind.

I like the look of having the steps off, but then when you stand sideways to the truck you can see all of the undercarriage hanging down, not cool.

Also, be sure and spot paint the holes when you take the bolts out. You have raw metal where the bolts where attached to the frame. Rust will appear overnight, especially now during the winter.

I guess it depends on how you define ground clearance, but it significantly increases the size of obstacles you can put a tire over and it increases the lean angle. Unfortunately, some of that increased capability is subtracted by the fact that you can't afford to ever hit that side area now, as it has no protection without boards or sliders.
