Side Storage Bin?

I have a storage bin on the right side of the trunk. I noticed that the 2003 models have them also. I figured it must be used for something in other parts of the world. Anyway, I was wondering what you use your storage bin for? Any good suggestions? I use mine for a flash light, batteries and a first aid kit.

In the 2003 models, I think that's where the subwoofer goes.

Since mine doesn't have one, then that's where I keep the fire extinguisher and a small air compressor.

I use that cubby hole for tools, first-aid kit, and other little thingies. I thought about putting in a small 8" subwoofer in place of the cubby, but decided against it because it is so useful for me.

Maybe the upgraded JBL stereo has the sub in there but mine doesn't . I have a fire extinguisher and some other trailer items in there.

In non-JBL equipped 2003 4runners, the "subwoofer" area is actually a small cubby hole. Before 2003, the 3rd gen 4runner had a cubby hole (with cover)...no subwoofer was offered from factory.

According to the Owners Manual for my 2000 LTD 4WD, that place is for a Box of Reflective Triangles. Check out Pep Boys, The small rectangular box fits right in there and the straps hold it down.

I use mine for First Aid, Flashlight, Folding Shovel and Bungies.

I keep my trailer hitch tongue, tow strap and some tie downs in mine.

In Brazil, you get the triangle in there plus a first aid kit with the car. You also get a fire extinguisher under the front seat. (Brazilian law requires all three).

Sounds like a good idea to have all that to me.

I keep some tp, my winch controller, a shackle, pair of gloves. I use to keep a handle of jim beam in there. It fits perfect

One thing I don't like is, the pictures were taken out of the old threads. I guess it is because we can save the space, but you never know when an old thread comes back?:nono:

I've got a ratchet strap ('cause ya never know...something big might have to come home with you!) hitch and related trailer pins, electrical grease for the trailer plug, 12v spotlight, bailing wire, tape, crappy little compressor and tire patch stuff. It all fits, with some planning though!
