Signs of pink milkshake???

My 98 has 141000 miles on it and I have just recently noticed my automatic transmission shifting a little bit harder...so I was wondering what are some signs of pink milkshake because I checked my radiator and everything is ok right now but I know with the miles that I have on it seems to be around the miles that I have seen others getting the pink milkshake...also I was curious I just went from steel wheels and 32 inch mud tires which was a very heavy combo back to my stock wheels and 265/70-16 and they are way lighter is it possible that maybe I should disconnect my battery to reset the computer so maybe it will relearn everything?? Could that be a possibility for the hard shifting? It seemed to have started at the same time

You're going to have to expect some difference when it comes to power and handling, but the only time you SHOULD notice a difference in shifting on an automatic (Between stock and the aftermarket) is when you're WOT - wide open throttle. It will hit harder. If you're grandma driving and it's shifting hard, I would park it and do a full inspection. When was the last time you changed out your tranny/diff fluids? If its been awhile, now would be a good time to drain and refill.

The mechanical part of working on my truck but I have always done everything else so I would like to learn how hard of a job is it to change those fluids? And how do I do it?

There are all kinds of write ups on here for both. In fact, there are videos on youtube that will show you how to do both. A word of caution though. If you are not mechanically inclined, you could get over your head pretty quick.

Though, both of these tasks should be easy providing that you have the tools | time | space to do it. If not, head on down to your favorite shop. Have them hit those things...then also get yer fuel filter done too. And finally before you leave, have them put on an aftermarket tranny cooler. After spending many $1000's on a tranny rebuild, including being ripped off at the 1st place, the mere $150 for a tranny cooler is worth it.

I could only imagine the mods I could have done to my rig if I would have done this, instead of paying for a new tranny. :redbrick:

I can do the tranny cooler myself and is it absolutely necessary to change the filter when I change the fluids?? Cause I feel comfortable doing the fluids but not so much with the filter

Have you greased your driveshaft lately. That can cause the harder shifts.

change your fluid and add a cooler, and pray. theres is nothing you can do if there is damage its already been done

The pink milkshake came out of nowhere for me-going 65 MPH down the highway. Still having troubles with it almost a year later

For me, the car just overheated and died right there. Good luck!

Dang y'all really have me worried Now I'm gonna check it out real good and it won't hurt to go ahead and throw on a tranny cooler to be safe

Good boy, and BTW, it won't be $150 if you do it yourself, it's only about $65. Even more worth it.
