Silly question.. 07 and 08, same 4WD operations?

Studying up ahead of my prospective purchase of an '08 4TR (maybe), I have secured the 07 manual via a link found here.

Can I assume logically that the operation of 4WD system as described in the 07 manual is the same for 08? Same knob, etc?

I do not want to test the 4WD operation and break something.

BTW, on a test drive, what is the best way to about testing the 4WD, to at least make sure it is not stuck but also fully functional?

Easiest way to tell if 4wd is on:

In a parking lot, turn the wheel as far as you can. Essentially start to make a hard turn, I mean hard. If you feel like the front left tire is trying to hop or skip, then it is working. Don't do this often or for long since you are rs:frog:sentislly binding the front. For the 5 feet to test, totally fine.

The reason for the skipping is bcause the front axles are trying to turn the front wheels the same speed and distance. Since the wheel on the inside curve doesnt physically have the same amount of road to travel....it skips.

If it does this for both hard right and left turns, you know the front wheels have power.

Turn off 4wd and repeat. It should now roll freely as the front wheels are no longer engaged to one another via diff and can rotate at different speeds.

Quick and easy.
