I really appreciate this thread. I'm planning on getting a silver TRDOR but one of the first things is switching our the tires and wheels. I would rather try and make it part of the negotiation process for the dealer to buyback the set but like everything....if depends on the price.
I mean, if they only offer me ...$300 for the buyback, that would be ridiculous since I should be able to sell the set for what....$700-$800? Is that being too optimistic?

Also.....since I just sold my truck to my brother in law....its putting some stress on me where I have to decide now whether I'm going to put a lift on the truck or not.
If I want 33" tires...I need a lift, so I would need to do it now (possibly even included from the dealer).
If I don't want a lift, I could just do 265/70 or even 275/70 BFG tires or something.
Basically....I want to try and avoid using a set of tires that I'll be stuck with for 30K while I'm waiting for them to get used up before switching to something else. But its hard to "try and get it right the first time".

[MENTION=219088]GogDog[/MENTION]; was just in a similar position to you, just pulled the trigger on my new '18 silver TRDORP. Personally I came from a 4x4 offroad F-150 on 275's; never felt the need to lift it.
Bought the 4runner and figured the same thing. The truck sits pretty high stock and the 265's really do fill out the wheel wells. But its been almost a month now, and I'm on my new BFG KO2s in 265.. and I'm gonna need to lift this thing at least a little. Parked next to a Sierra and it made my runner just look like a minivan.
Personally, i won't lift it more than 2". From the pictures i've seen, the 265's will still be plenty large enough. But if you have a tickle somewhere in the back of your head saying "huh i'd kinda like a lift.." you should just plan on it from the outset. If I knew three weeks ago I'd feel this strongly about lifting the Runner, I'd have gone with the 275's just to stand out a bit more.
Re resale value: Discount tire offered me $50/tire for the dunflops. I'd guess you'll be able to craigslist/ebay/local runner group sell your wheels and tires for $600-$800; as devastatingly stock as the ORP wheels look, they are actually pretty damn sharp wheels and I've seen a lot of older models rolling around on them.

Ok...what about this. If I am planning on installing rock sliders, some rsi type skid plates, and a SSO slimline front bumper and winch...do I have to replace the shocks anyway?
Basically...how much weight can be added to the truck with stock suspension? If I add all of this weight....do I need to replace the shocks..and if so....wouldn't that mean I might as well lift the suspension?
And....I was trying not to absolutely kill the fuel economy. So...what kills it more...a 2" lift or larger/heavier wheels like a 10ply 275/70 wheel?
