Simple bumper mod: what do you think?

Thinking of blacking out the bottom center of the front bumper, kinda like the 5th Gen Trail editions. What do you think? (BTW, this isn't my truck-I just photoshopped another forum members' picture).

I have a white T4R and that silver piece that you did in black is what i am wanting to get done in the next month. both front and rear plus grill insert will go to the paint booth and come back black.
it's a great idea.

I like the idea a lot and think it would look good on my silver t4r and would match the black roof rails and running boards.

Someone on the 4th Gen forum here ALSO has the crossbar(s) in the grille blacked out. It looks GOOD in my opinion.

I would be interested in knowing the best process for painting these parts.

looks good, & i agree maybe paint the center grill piece black also, i think it would look good with the toyota emblem.

I think it looks really good on the white Runner (I'm normally not a white paint fan, but I think it makes it look pretty cool).

I'd go for matt/flat over glossy, but I guess that's a given.

The Silver Runner with the grill blacked out too also looks good - would be neat to see it with the headlights blacked out to to with it.

Okay, so here are all the options with 06-09 grill (lower bumper only, bumper plus crossbar, bumper plus entire grill).

option three definitely would look badass..I tought about doing it to my 4runner but dunno if I want to mess with the body paint nor pay hundreds to get it done right....Now having my black bull bar kinda looks like that.......good luck painting that chrome grill...you might have to swap it or get a OEM ready to paint.

PS: white runners are the most beautiful ones...too bad they didn't have one in stock when I purchased mine. If Toyota ever comes up with a White Trail Edition ...I would buy one in a heart beat... no doubt.. no need to black out nothing and the white/black combo is awesome!...

Ugh. It's things like this that makes me wish my black 4runner was white. Maybe I could do a flat black? or chrome!

IMHO, i wouldn't do it. For shows, it looks good. On the road (at a distance), it looks like your bumper is either missing pieces or you just had an accident.

That's the only other Trail Edition I've ever seen, although my TE came with factory fog lights. I was thinking of doing the black center grille bar (no 2), and I think it looks awesome. Not sure about doing the lower bar for the reasons MikesToy stated.
