Site speed or lack of speed

1/2 the time i can't even get the sight to load. It's a mess...

This site is overloaded with pop up ads. Having to down load those ads takes time. I get it that the site needs to get revenue from some source to meet expenses, and pop ups are probably the only way to do that, short of requiring a subscription fee.

But the ads have gotten so bad, that it drives users away. Becomes a death spiral -- fewer uses means more pop ups to meet expenses, means fewer users, etc.

I use Ghostery ad blocker which gets rid of most of them. Just on this page alone, Ghostery reports there are nine pop ups it has blocked.

Anyone willing to pay a subscription fee to get rid of the ads? How much would you be willing to pay?

In addition to the ads, it could be that the database is getting huge with all the posts on here. In the 7 months since I last dropped by, it shows there have been 16k new posts. I imagine the 15+ post rule to start threads also compounds this problem...
