Sitting Position Improved?

I used to own a '97 4runner, liked everything about it except the sitting position. Felt like I was sitting on the floor with my knees way too high. I am 6'1" and my wife is also 6'1" but her legs are 2" longer. It was comical watching her sit in the passenger's seat with her knees up to her chest. When sitting in a car seat I feel like your knees should not go up past your waist at all.

Has the sitting position improved in the latest 4runners or does it still feel like you are sitting on the floor? How many inches from the floor to the ceiling of the roof is there compared to 3rd gen runners? I'd like to buy another 4unner but the seating position is a deal breaker.

If the sitting position hasn't improved what other SUVs/trucks would you recommend? I've also been looking at the Chevy ZR2 (diesel).

Good idea but I'll wait till the weather is cleared up a bit. Here in MI we just got hit by a huge snow storm last night. When I got off work yesterday there was so much snow on my sedan I had to bird box it home.

I'm also over 6' and the seating position in the 5th gen does not feel like it's on the floor. It is pretty good positioning in my opinion.

i'm 6'3" and think the 5th gen is barely sufficient, it's definitely not what i would call comfortable. on road trips i have to stop every 2 horus to walk because i can't straighten my legs, the only way i fit is with my right leg at an angle against the console.
