Ski- Box on a Pro Tubular rack---> Version 2

Well Crap,

My Thule Box broke, and it is out of production and not in stock anywhere. Luckily enough, Thule will still warranty it, but I am back to square 1 trying to find a box that will fit on the lower rails of a TRD-Pro Rack.

My previous struggle:
Cargo / Ski boxes on a '19 TRD-Pro tubular roof rack..

I searched high and low and found.....nothing. The most forward crossbeam on the rack needs to be about 8inches further forward to really be functional on the lower bars.

So... I realized I'll just have to figure out my own solution... A few cans of plastidip later, and some waterjet cut brackets and I got this to fit on the lower bars.

About 2/3rds of the way through the installation I realized there is a much much better way to do this, so back to the drawing board, eventually...

Until then my new Thule box on the lower bars... and the sunroof still opens:

Took it for a test drive... minimal box shimmy, pretty happy with lack of wind noise, ,, This will work for now...

What Thule box is that and what brackets did you need to cut?

Really looking to snag a cargo box for family trips, though it doesn't need to be ski length just large enough to augment the back when needed for longer trips.

I’m not following what you did here. What’s the better way you figured out 2/3 of the way through doing it this way? And why not just mount the box on the upper bars?
