Skid Plate Question

Just received my bonus at work, and since it is now burning a hole in my bank account I want to spend some on upgrading the armor on my 4Runner, specifically skids.

My question is, do i really need the t-case/tranmission skid or is the front engine/diff skid good enough? I am currently running without even the factory skid (dealership somehow destroyed it... dont ask...)

I havent offroaded in a while, but now that my buddy is done building his XJ it will hopefully happen more often. Probably not too crazy, there isnt too much in southeast Michigan.

Thanks!

I would definitely recommend getting the trans/t-case skid if you have the money. The transmission pan is pretty vulnerable under there. That being said I still don't have one due to lack of funds :(

Depends what kind of offroading you do and how much you will actually be using the skids. If you are playing in the rocks a lot then you may want to protect everything you can, if you can afford it. If you are just doing mild offroading and not much rocks, then just go with the front to protect the radiator and then worry about a gas tank skid if you think you'll need it.

I got a motor and tranny plate (thinner of the two) from member isu2014 who made or put together an order a year or so ago. Could not be happier with the entire process and product and it is hella stout. So glad I did not go with the heavy version...not even close to being needed for me.
