Skid plates bolts

So last night I decided to clean the rig up a little be with some water and simple green..

and I swear I have taken my skid plates off enough times to remember how everything goes.. but last night.. I might have strip the threads were the front skids plates mounts up with 3 bolts..

my question, can I just run 2 bolts on it? or is there anyway to re tap it for the third bolt? the one with the strip threads is in the middle..

You have a few options.
*Run two bolts which should be fine.
*Install Heli-coils in the stripped holes (which is what I did on all of mine).
*Or buy longer bolts and matching nuts, run the bolts thru and tighten a nut on the other side of the mounting. (bolts are 8mm x 1.25 thread pitch, I use a class 10.9 flange head).

or if they're not too gnarly, see if running a thread chaser through them will help. The easiest thing to do would be to just leave the darn thing out.

if you have the stock skid then having 1 less bolt ain't gonna harm sh%t, but if you got aftermarket i would deff repair it with heli coil.

When I bought my '97 the skid plate was barely hanging on by 3 bolts. The previous owner always took it to one of those quickie lube places. I'm sure they took the skid plate off everytime to change the oil, and lost bolts in the process.
I tried to replace the other bolts but discovered that all the mounts were stripped. I just replaced all of them with longer nickel bolts, nuts, and lock washers. It's solid now.

ended up with re-tapping the threads and now is solid..
