Skid Plates: RCI, CBI, or Other

dont plan on rock crawling but would like to have full skids on for protection. What's the recommendation for ones with KDSS?

The ARB catalog number for the KDSS compatible kit should be 5421110. There was a Youtube short posted by the shop at Big Bear who installed mine, which shows the full set newly installed while it was on the lift. I’ll see if I can relocate that and post the URL.

Adding another option to the list for anyone comparing brands. We (Cali Raised LED) make a full skid set for the 2010-2024 4Runner, fabricated in-house in Fort Worth, Texas.

  • Complete Skid Plate Collection for 2010-2024 4Runner: front, transmission, transfer case and fuel tank.
  • Material choice: 3/16" steel ($1,525.99) or 1/4" 5052 aluminum ($1,619.99). The lower control arm skids are steel only.
  • Bolts to factory mounting points. Plan on about 2-4 hours for the full set.
  • Fitment: 4WD only, and not compatible with KDSS. If you have KDSS, look at the brands above that list KDSS versions.

Steel vs aluminum, the same tradeoff people mention above: steel is heavier but takes rock hits better; aluminum saves weight and won't rust.

6th Gen (2025+) owners: 2025+ complete skid set (hybrid and gas versions).
