OK so I have come full circle on this whole thought Process. I have an 05 GX470 with 100k miles on it. Brand new Michelin highway tires and my wife drives it. I need to replace the shocks in the next 12 months and want to accomplish 2 things:
1: Retain plush ride
2: Run the stock tires for now but upgrade/futureproof suspension so the transmission is easy to lift it.
So here is my Idea.
1. Replace the electronically controlled shocks with new electronically controlled shocks
2: Place a spacer under the air bag
3: Install adjustable toytec front spring set like this
Front adjustable coil over kit with Bilstein 5100's
The idea is to set the front springs to their lowest setting and electronically set the rear springs to low so that for all intents and purposes it sits stock. My wife can use the soft setting on the e-shocks for a nice ride and then eventually when the tires need replaced I can go with a larger size, adjust the front toytecs accordingly and then just set the rear air bags to normal or high to match.
Is that crazy or awesome? I can't tell.
