Slider install tips?

I got in on the C4 group buy and had them shipped to my work to save a few bucks on shipping.

I plan to hit them spray bedliner and hopefully install them at my work. Does this sound do’able?

Any tips to make install go easier? C4’s instructions seem pretty straight forward.

I think you should be fine doing it, i did my RSGs by my self with no floor jack, and no jack stands. It took me about 2 hrs. but hey, i'm old. I say go for it.

To make things easier use jack stands and c clamps

Don't use bed liner. the first time they his dirt, they will never get clean. you're better off with rattle can. Also, make sure the screws thread into the frame easily before install.

Took longer to spray mine with a rattle can then to bolt them on.

Indeed make sure all bolts install first - I think Toyota paints threads - plus mine had three years of corrosion before I installed my RCI's.

Also you will have to disconnect that rear brake line mounting first and then put it back after the sliders are bolted in.

Since I have a 13 SR5 I modified my door sills.

I installed mine by myself. I used my knees to support one end while I got the first bolt in the other. Then I got a bolt into the far end and the rest was easy.

Floor jack for the win, jack stands if you want to be extra safe. Never considered c-clamps, smart idea though.

I used jack stands to get them close. Once a few bolts are in you'll be on your way. It wasn't too difficult. My vehicle was made in 2010 and the holes were a bit rusty. I found a penetrative lubrication very helpful. It was VERY difficult to get the bolts in after all those years. I had a 1/2" ratchet and I had to take some breaks. If you have access to an impact, I'd have it handy.

I used jack stands, couple of cups for the bolts and a nice mat to crawl around on. Fairly straight forward. Took an hour and a half. The instructions were pretty good.

I also cleaned the underneath a day or so before. Helped out since I didn’t have dirt and grime. Just a suggestion.

Personally, I had mine powder coated, cost me around $100 and was well worth it. The install was easy. I did it in my garage using a floor jack and some blocks of wood to support them.

Installing Rock Sliders

I bought my Domello sliders in bare steel and hand painted them 3 or 4 coats with Rustoelum primer and black. It's pretty tough paint on the trail. I hung the sliders on rope by the mounting holes from the garage rafters so I could paint all sides at once.

To install them with KDSS lines on the drivers side I used a bunch of wood blocks to support it up close to the frame. Once I got two bolts started it was pretty easy. I've been doing a lot of carpentry work around the house and had the blocks from scraps.

The hardest part for me was removing the KDSS control valve from the frame in order to slide the mounting plates up underneath. There's very little room to turn the one nut that holds the KDSS valve block in place. A ratcheting closed end wrench will make that part easier. There is no room for a socket and ratchet back up there. Look to see how the C4 mounting plate fits around the KDSS before you start and have the right tools ready.View attachment 295252
